(Part 4) ITV Superstar - Episode 12 Live Show 9 The Final

This is the fourth part of Superstar episode 12 live show 9 the final. This talent show is looking for someone to play the part of Jesus in an arena tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. Presented by Amanda Holden and the judges are Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dawn French, Jason Donovan and Melanie Chisholm. Broadcast Wednesday 25th July 2012 on ITV1.

They're all great but Ben was the only one singing like a character, with feeling. It showed, it felt. The other 2 were singing beautifully but Ben definitely was acting it as well. Seeing his Jesus on dvd is phenomenal, well deserved.

I saw the arena performance from 2012 again this Easter. Ben has won me over as my favourite Jesus of all time. Such a powerful performance.

Ben had the best acting and the best 'Whyyyyyyy should I die?''. They made the right decision and I'm glad they did because otherwise, I wouldn't have discovered him as Brad Majors.

I love Ben!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rory just doesn't have the emotion needed for this part And Roger's voice kept cracking throughout the compation. He could last a show like and all the areana and the touring

I do, which is why I'm saying he's worked his way up the ranks. He's just never been Jesus, and he's always wanted to. But The Lion King isn't the only West End show. I see Roger being an AMAZING Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, or even Javert but I was begging that he'd get Jesus(and yes, I did vote!)!

Roger was saved by Dawn French to be her ridiculous joke target. Rory...The final was his best performance, he could hit the high notes. But Ben knew how to develop his performance step by step. Not so shocking because he was the student of Italia Conti Academy of Theatre and Art.

Ben graduated from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre and Arts, he has more backgrounds in musical theatre than Tim and anybody else. He didn't launch his attacks at once but as Jason said "layer by layer". Tim maybe sang good at the audition, but he had the bad expression at the last song of the live show and failed to deliver the high notes. And the voters were not impressed by his last performance.

Fun Fact: Rory actually got to Play Jesus in Australia when Ben was Unwell, because Rory was Playing Simon and First Cover Jesus, so he got to sing Gethsemane for a few Nights while Ben was Off 😍😍😍

Can you imagine him and Mel C together? It's easier to imagine Ben or Rory with Mel C than Roger or Nathan. He could be Jesus maybe someday but not now. This show is very demanding show and Roger's voice already cracked before the semifinal. If Dawn French didn't make him as her joke, maybe he would not be saved by Andrew.

But Roger deserved this part! He's worked his way up through the ranks but still hasn't got the role yet. I wish him the best of luck and I know he will be an amazing star very soon. He can hit the high notes too!

The black guy failed when singing the two most important parts of the song. That alone means he is not going to get the role, moreover because it's not the first time his voice has broken in high notes. Vocally speaking, he was not the ideal person to play Jesus. The younger white guy is TOO young, and his stage presence and acting doesn't fit that of a spiritual leader of men. He's more like one of his disciples, not even a Judas. Ben for me is the best option for Jesus, because he looks 30-33 years old, he looks mature enough to play Jesus, his acting is the best, and he perfectly hits all the notes.

I agree with all of your points. Although watching Ben on the live DVD, while vocally very good, his lack of arm movement irritates me and pulls his performance down (it's like his elbows are stuck to his torso for most of it). I was never sure how Roger (black guy) got so far as I didn't really rate him from the start. It's a shame Nathan wasn't very likeable, his was my favourite voice...

No he hasn't, but he could be one. Have you seen all of his performances from the day one? If his voice slipped a bit, it could be from the pressures and tiredness from the intensive trainings and rehearsals. He did 9 days of consecutive live shows. There's no contestant started singing while lying on the floor and when got up screamed high notes, except Ben. Not even Nathan, moreover Tim.

But this is different. This show was public voting one. Of course they would pick the one with model body, beside the good voice. And Ben had a single couple years ago and he performed Thriller Musical as well.

So my honest opinion is that Roger has the voice and look of Carl Anderson Judas he would be perfect for the role in the near future he has little bit of a high note so I cut him a break on that Rory ah Rory him he has the voice for Jesus but the look of Jerome verison of Judas that I can clearly see and notice so much but Ben oh god Ben has the voice the look Thea excitement and joy for this role I’ve said this before with or without the long hair Ben foster was born to play Jesus and I still to this day love his performance

I love that they used Neeley's Jesus to showcase Gethsemane, he really is the greatest Jesus of all time. Nathan would have killed this song, pitch perfect, every note effortless, I hope he sings it one day so people can see that his voice was made for this song. Rory really surprised me here, he did a much better job than I would have thought. Ben hit the big note like a friggin champ! Roger failed this, hard, didn't hit the note and missed a cue. I do wish they would have done it seperately

Have you seen fat Jesus? That was public voting show and of course they wanted a slim Jesus. Roger would not look good in a loin cloth unless Andrew wanted to wait 3 months for him or Nathan to be slim. And as I told you his voice cracked before the semifinal and cracked with Gethsemane. He was saved because of Dawn French, just admit it. She made him as her joke target that amused the audience. Tim, Niall, Jeff and the others were not saved because there's no reason to do that.

Last performance of Tim was bad. Rock song is not about raspy voice. Heavy raspy voice is for grunge. Most of rock singers have clear vocal, you count from Freddie Mercury, Klaus Meine, Steve Tyler and so on. Husky yes, but not heavily raspy.

Despite he can't hit high notes he is too bulky to be Jesus. Have you watched JSC trailer? /watch?v=-J-T7LgKzYs. He has to be slim to wear loin cloth. And we are speaking about O2 Arena and Manchester Arena here. People will not want to see a bulky Jesus.

I heard ALW said that the panel were casting for a role, not a favourite. So they should search a performer with a pleasant look, lean and tall body and good basic vocal. And Donna Sotto Morettini will train him later.

He was hiding his ability to sing the operatic song up to this time. ALW found his ability about 2 years later when he played as Agustin Magaldi, a touring tango singer in Evita. He was praised there and he was not the leading actor that time, Marti Pellow was the leading man.

They weren't impressed because he was fat. It had nothing to do with his talent. I don't care where Ben graduated from. His voice is a generic tenor. Webber talks about screaming, but no one here used a scream. They used a weak falsetto. And there is a difference.

I could very easily imagine him and Melanie C acting opposite each other. Roger is in his 40's-Jesus was 33 when he was crucified(even though Roger does look 10 years younger than his true age)! The show is very demanding, I'm not denying that, but I think Roger does have amazing stamina! I think he could do it-I think Ben's going to disappoint a lot of people(just personal opinion). My boyfriend agreed Ben wasn't a wise decision(he actually wanted Nathan, Jeff or Roger to get the part)!

Tim can sing clean. You saw him sing "Bring Him Home" on the auditions. His background is musical theater. Being a rock singer isn't just gravel - it's versatility. And Ben doesn't have it.

since playing Jesus,Ben has gone on to play Brad in rocky horror, Buddy the Elf, Magaldi in Evita and the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, thats versatile

I didn't like any of them in Getsemany. Roger was not really up to it, Rory has the best voice but no spice, and Ben was very often off-pitch

All of these guys are tragically bad. Not a rock singer among them. Tim was great. Nathan was great. Those were the only two I would have paid to see.
