TCL Stylus 5G in 2023 - (Still Worth It?)

i bought a TCL top of the line zone free DVD player 20 years ago in Beijing. I paid $220 USD for it. It is still fully functional today. Knock on wood.

My TCL Stylus has been good to me. Over time like all lower end devices it has slowed down but that is what developer options are for. I have learned how to split screen, screen shot, take notes, small screen, dual screen, basic math with the stylus it is crazy what all it does. Recently showed to an Apple user, they were blown away.

I got the TCL Stylus 5G in June. It was free when I switched to T-Mobile. I wanted to try a Stylus phone w/o the huge cost of a Samsung S22 Ultra. Things I like: Bright, large, display. The battery life, Using the Stylus for screen off notes, and the headphone jack. Cons are it feels a little slow now that I also have a Pixel 6a, but it's fine.

have you heard anything about the battery? ive dealt with a handful of these phones and the battery is either dead on arrival or just drains out fast.

Thanks alot Kevin you just rekindled my desire to own this device again LOL. With 99.99999% certainty I'd absolutely grab one today, if... TCL's carrier exclusivity here wasn't a thing, there was an unlocked variant, available in Canada. Yeah sadly we are out of luck here on all fronts, bummer! Here's hoping TCL rethinks their strategy next time (if there's a TCL Stylus 5G two) as feel it was the wrong strategy.

You forgot to mention that this phone has dual-firing stereo speakers - a compelling selling point. For me, this feature is a deal-breaker over phones that have a single firing speaker.

This phone goes down as the WORST not so smart phone I've EVER had. The sales rep warned me and I now wish I would have listened. The Bluetooth will randomly cut off, when the screen goes to sleep mode it will stop play on my Spotify, it will randomly start playing through the phone's speakers whatever I was listening to when it stopped playing, the Hotspot will require me to restart my phone sometimes in order for it to work, text messages will not go through and in most cases I have to restart the phone, currently text messages aren't going through even though I've powered down my phone several times now and this issue has lasted well over 12 hours now.... THIS PHONE IS TERRIBLE! LG made the absolute best low budget phones unfortunately they stopped making them.
