I'm a painter who was looking for an edc that was super light weight and concealable for work were guns are frowned upon and I love carrying this in an ankle holster. No one even knows I have it, and I forget sometimes myself. It's my backup when I'm not working. Super nice for construction when belt carry is uncomfortable

I've had one for over a month now, and have put about 300 rounds through it with no issues. I put the first box of hollow point Fiocchi XTP stuff through it yesterday. I've started putting the expensive carry ammo through it because I think it's going to be my small carry gun. I have fired this side by side with the Ruger LCP, and the S&W Bodyguard, and this one has by far the best trigger and hand feel. I shoot this more accurately than my small 9mm, which is just weird. I put a dab of yellow paint on the front sight. I really like this gun, and there aren't many I say that about.

Got my unit last week and fired it only yesterday. Shot a hundred rounds and not a single mishap. I'm glad mine worked perfectly fine. I was able to hit 8" target plates at 15 and 20 yards. For a gun this small, i'm impressed at how fun, comfortable and accurate it can be for a big guy like me. Heads up for everyone, get a unit with Serial Number ending in letter "C".

I carry my 380 every day, It is not my favorite to shoot, you have to get your grip memory down at the range, the slide will bite you if you get lax. Yes it is very reliable, never had a failure that I can recall. I practice point and shoot two quick rounds at 10 yards. I use an old hoodie and practice shooting through the pocket as well. It is easy to carry and on the rare occasion I do not have it on me, I miss it as if I were missing my wallet. This my review of carrying it for at least 9 years.

I have a Glock 23 .40 that I use for open carry but it's a hassle for concealed carry, and I always end up going back to my TCP .380 when I want concealment, which is 99% of the time.

This is one of the videos that convinced me to buy my TCP a couple of years ago and I'm glad that it did. Even though I picked up a PT-111G2, more often than not it's my little TCP that goes out the door with me. It's just too easy to grab my TCP in it's Blackhawk size 3 pocket holster to stuff in my pocket and go about my day. At some point I plan on checking out the Taurus Spectrum, but I'm in no hurry, because my little TCP more than adequately fills the role of my EDC pistol.

Taurus has come a VERY long way in the last 30 years. I have always believed that the Taurus firearms made in the last 15 or so years are at least on par with anything else you can get. As to the warranty. That is no BS. They repaired a PT 911 that I purchased before they implemented their "Lifetime Warranty" policy. It seems that every new Taurus firearm I purchase is always better that the previous one. They do good work.

I own one also...LOVE IT! It is clearly the off duty/hideout pistol that I needed for 30 years but never had...until recently. I went through Astra, Bersa, and two AMTs! None did the job I needed nor were reliable nor affordable. It is my new EDC and really wish I had 40 years ago.

I have a TCP "E" series and I have never had a better gun. Totally reliable. I had my fill of revolvers. I carry this gun every time I leave the house. I practice with it often and can shoot 2 1/2" groups at 21'. That's pretty good for such a small gun. I did however paint the front sight red so I could see it better.

Even though this review is now 7 years old, it was great. In the market for a small carry pistol for my flyfishing vest. The PT-709 was sold back and I had no range control, but my Pt-111 is my favorite, but a little heavy whence out angling. The Spectrum might be another choice for my needs, but we will see. Been watching your reviews for about 2 years and they are honest and worth noting for future purchasing. Guns are fun!

I bought one based on scotch's review. I don't shoot it often, but this spring I realized I need to practice with it even more than other. 15 yards away and I was hitting in the circle with every shot. I did add some talon grips some time ago. Since then I wouldn't trade it for any other deep conceal gun. One more thing, be sure to clean it, lube, and check the mags periodically. Other than that, it fires better than any mouse gun I have shot.

179.00 at Bud's. I had severe reliability problems on first shooting. Sent it to Taurus and in 2 weeks it returned with NO problems. Over 200 rounds through it now. I stick with FMJ on 380's because of better penetration. I replaced my P3AT because it literally fell apart one day when I removed the magazine. The trigger group is in the handle of the P3AT and it dropped out of the mag well when I removed the mag from the gun. I sold my daughter's P3AT as well and got her a Glock 42. The TCP is much smaller and I love it for summer carry in my shorts. My daughter has a purse so the Glock resides there. You can't beat 179.00 for a TCP. Taurus stood behind mine after it arrived jamming out of the box. The fixed it and will take care of you QUICKLY!

I've owned this gun for about 6 months now, I've put about 1,000 rounds through it. I bought a S&W bodyguard.380 to replace it, but after a week I sold the bodyguard. I had feeding issues at first, the feed ramp was narrower at the top causing a funnel effect. I very carefully corrected it with a Dremel. I also bent the very ends of the feed lips on the magazine very slightly. Well 900 rounds later, no issues. I get 4 inch groopings at 30 feet. I carry it more than my 9 mm shield.

I bought this TCP based largely on your review having shot all of the others that you reviewed and some others, and I am 100% happy with the TCP - even more satisfied than I was expecting. You didn't emphasize that (i) takedown is extremely easy, (ii) the newer productions have absolutely no feeding or performance issues, and (iii) this thing eats ALL ammo - even that Tula steel cased cheap crap.

Nice review of a good little pistol. The trigger in the Tcp can only be surpassed by the Khar P380 but at over twice the price then the TCP. I picked mine up last May after comparing everything in it's class at once and for $230.00 price tag with 2 mags and the case it was a no good deal. I did have some fail to fires mostly with steel cased stuff and the slide was locking back with rounds still in the chamber. These are both common issues with pocket .380's and I could see where the troubles were. Instead of correcting these issues myself I decided to send it back to Taurus. One fifteen minute call and I had a shipping label in my e-mail inbox. I sent it in about a week later and I had it back in my hands with the list of repairs they made which were the correct ones within 10 days. They even noticed it was ejecting brass back into the shooters head everyone in awhile and adjusted the extractor/ejector. I have since put 150 rounds of various brand FMJ's and 100 rounds of HP from Winchester and Hornday with no issues. Once I get a few boxes of Precision one XTP's and run a ammo function test as long as it passes I will be adding into my carry rotation when I cant carry a larger pistol or on days like today when my back is killing me and wearing a fat stubby G26 is just adding to my over all bad mood.

My Taurus TCP 380 is a great firearm, except for one small drawback. The mag release button is too soft. The only problem I had while firing was the mag released in my hand & causes a misfeed. The mag has even released while in my pocket. Not a good thing in an emergency. I don’t know if it is a flaw or just the nature of this piece.

I just got on the band wagon to get my CCW class a month ago, and have yet to submit my permit information to the local PD, due to monetary constraints around the holidays. I plan to make this my predominant carry pistol and already have a OWB holster set up for it. I'm not a Taurus fan, nor am a big detractor. It seemed to be a good gun for the right price at the time. had several problems with mine: the slide doesn't always lock back (or it spontaneously releases forward) and it doesn't always go fully into battery while firing(by just 1 or 2mm). the latter is a real pain because it hard to notice and causes a FTF and (for whatever reason) it's tough to rack and get that round out.
@ELGlocko13 жыл бұрын
This gun looks great and is priced well. Its best feature is its trigger. It has a extremely smooth and relatively short pull. It is also crisp and sports a good reset. These features are hard to find in a .380--i.e. the trigger pull on the LCP is overly long. The problem with this gun lies in its inability to function reliably enough for daily carry/self defense. Mine experiences FTF and failures to go into battery quite often. Sent mine back to taurus already and it still doesnt run good
Could not find one in stainless steel. I used the clear acrylic women use to protect nails on my slide. No worries of rust or holster wear.

Great, overview. I hear you about gravitating to the smaller firearms. When I was in my twenties, I didn't think anything of toting around my Glock 21. Perhaps with age and experience comes a desire to stick to what you know works. I hate these little wop belly guns with a passion, but dang it, it fits easily in my pocket, and I can put bullets on target with it. Well in the case of the Kel-Tec, it was bullet on target as it couldn't shoot two in a row.

@jwash3rd - Back in november, 50 rounds of target ammo was $24.99, or more then .45 at my local shop I go to... Last week I bought the same stuff for $15.99, so supply is finally catching up with demand. Though the Hollow points I carry are still a dollar a round!? But you HAVE to practice with at least a few of your carry rounds... I cry a little with each trigger pull sending one of those rounds down range. Do try carrying it in the Bulldog PDA holster, with practice it's great.
