I saw ZZ Top twice in the 1980s and wish I had seen them many more times. For me, Dusty Hill played what needed to be played and left it at that.

@theslowride662 жыл бұрын
I've been fortunate to see the Texas Trio many times my ears fell in love with them the the 1st time I heard them in the 1980's I have 2 triple signed memorabilia & a one off bootleg poster that some one who snuck a camera into a show. My ZZTOP key chain goes everywhere my Harley Biker wallet goes . A day without ZZTOP in my ears is a day without sunshine. Rock on Elwood.

I can imagine ZZ Top went over well in Australia. I spent some time there in the late 80s and was in a bar in Kalgoorlie where a lot of the miners living there had long, full beards and I thought to myself I feel like I'm in a ZZ Top video.

Wife and I saw ZZ Top in December 2021 in Fort Myers, Florida and I will admit, seeing ZZ Top without Dusty was quite shocking. I almost did not go to the concert, but my wife made me go. I had a difficult time seeing Elwood playing bass for some reason, but after four songs I started really enjoying the concert. Even laughed when Elwood made the wrong hand gesture with Billy, to which even Billy laughed. It is strange to see one of your favorite bands that you have seen play live for over 35 years play without one of the original members. Thanks for the video!

You're welcome. I will go and see them with Elwood. I'm sure it will be a bit different, but Elwood from the videos I have seen is doing a good job and I want to support the band. They have been so good thru the years. I never felt a ZZ Top show was a waste of money. Can't say that about others. Thanks for watching and your comment!

Dusty played according to the music. I love Rush, but ZZ's music didn't need Geddy, it needed Dusty! Plus, there's an art to pocket playing, not as easy as it sounds. I was lucky to see the Tejas and Degüello tours! Tejas was sharp with rhinestones, and Degüello was dirty 1800's gunslinger style! The one thing that wasn't different was the Tightness of the music! They were (and I assume are) one of the best live bands out there! RIP Dusty ☮️🤘🤙

The day Dusty left us i decided to go to get a brew to celebrate his release from this life. on my way to the store i seen the most amazing sunset i have ever seen in over 50 years. i knew in my heart Dusty sent that sunset to me. That night i had a dream about Dusty going above to visit with a higher power. he was welcomed thru the pearly gates without a question and was admitted with dignity and respect. in my dream the higher power told Dusty after he got settled in he would like to have a chat with him. When that stage was set, the higher power said ,Dusty you are here now and you have brought much joy in the past to millions i would like to know if there is any thing that you have not done that you might like to do. in reply Dusty said.....i would like to make it rain......so in response the higher power said to Dusty, now that you are here things are much different. we can do better than that therefore you can be the rain.

I'm a big fan of ZZ Top and Dusty's style & tone...and his Fender Telebass. It is interesting in band dynamics how some stay together and others fall apart. Rush broke up after Neil's passing (but Geddy & Alex are making beer now). At the far other end is the ongoing feud between Roger Waters & David Gilmour. Not everyone can get along as well as the 'Top did, but I think we are all fortunate that they did.

Yes, I love the "cause of death is unknown" cliche instead of openly discussing what happened here. Insurance survivor issues, maybe? Seems kind of weird we are still going with "cause unknown." They keep saying he died in his sleep. I had no idea sleeping was so dangerous It has been a year. Does his death certificate state: Cause unknown? Was the medical examiner scratching his head wondering how someone could have suddenly died in his sleep? Please. I t was known he had hip issues and surgeries. My guess is the doc and hospital probably made some kind of error in medication or treatment and that contributed to this. Maybe after 10 years of legal wrangling we may have an answer to this totally mysterious death. C'mon man, please.

Dusty Hill was the perfect bassist for ZZ Top same as Ringo was the ideal drummer for the Beatles. It's how all the parts fit together that's important. Not the individual skill level. For example if you put Chris Squire in ZZ Top, it would not have worked and Neil Peart would not have improved the Beatles one iota.
