You should really use a little bit of thread-locker and a torque wrench on those pulleys. A torque wrench is one of the best tools you can buy when working on your car like this. The Mitsubishi Lancer Service Manual (for the 2008 model) shows all the Newton meter figures so you will then always know everything is in-spec with how it was when it left the Japanese factory. You don't have to worry about bolts being over-tightened (under excessive stress) or under-tightened (which may come loose over time).
@harrissz93814 жыл бұрын
hey man , in which section of the service manual tells about torque spec for pulleys ? nvm found it under engine overhaul , torque spec
One thing also good to change is to do the alternator pulley as well. If one of pulley fails, the other part will go kaput as well soon. Nice vid BTW.

I hate it that you are right. my alternator pulley kaput. Now i am waiting for the special tool to arrive before i can dismantle the pulley and install a new one.

@TCsAnythingGoes4 жыл бұрын
500 for original parts + labor is a pretty good price. Yeah, i wasted a lot of time trying to install back the belt.... didn't have the proper tools to leverage it in. Ended up with two spanner combined only strong enough to put the belt in.

Hi, nice video, really helpfull, however how does the quality of the after market tensioner compared to the original one. Any different on the dimension or the quality
@TCsAnythingGoes4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice words. The aftermarket tensioner seems to function just like the original. I don't see any difference in terms of dimension. Quality wise, have not used it long enough to know if it will last as long as the originals. But so far been using it for about a month plus, no issues yet.

Hi can you share what is the serial number for 2.0 auto tensioner? Thanks
@jmdhjr4 жыл бұрын
To remove the old tensioner, I had to take out the two idler pulleys and the pulley on the tensioner. This way I got to the two bolts with ease. I also changed my alternator pulley which is a PIA.
@TCsAnythingGoes4 жыл бұрын
i took the entire tensioner out along with the pulley together. I guess i got lucky with positioning it out. I did change my alternator pulley recently as well.

At 12:91, whats the correct tool to use to push the tensioner to loosen the belt? Looks like an extra long breaker bar with a socket on the end will work?

breaker bar might be too thick once you attach it to a socket. An extra long spanner would be better.

Bro, few days back I commenting on your replacing ac compresor. Now i already change my ac compresor. But my belting sound squeeking. Does belting squeking sound will affecting the engine?
@TCsAnythingGoes3 жыл бұрын
The belt should not squeak. If it does then its most likely worn or not installed properly. Any weird sound that isn't suppose to be there has the potential to harm the engine

Does this affect acceleration performance. My pulley bearing worn out and belt squeaks?
@TCsAnythingGoes2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does cause your worn out pulley creates more drag and requires more power to move hence holding your engine back (even if its by a little)

I still have the problem. Plastic aftermarket parts are not very good. my mechanic replaced the roller with a metal one. He is currently testing it. often dropped the ribbed belt even at idle.
@TCsAnythingGoes6 ай бұрын
what the code of the belt? i suspect either one of the pulley is not aligned or the belt is too long.
@miky000766 ай бұрын
@@TCsAnythingGoes already at the 4th mechanic who assigns the belt based on traffic. none of them said that the belt is not good. I left it in the trunk. the car is still at the mechanic. But I also have the factory one that I could compare it to. That's the size.
@TCsAnythingGoes6 ай бұрын
@@miky00076 if you could, get the code that is printed on the belt. That would let me know if its oversized. Also, have a look at the alignment of all the pulleys, it should all line up in one straight line. Then check your tensioner, if your tensioner is able to move with minimal effort, chances are the tensioner is loose hence it no longer give enough tension to the belt to stay in place.

@TCsAnythingGoes3 жыл бұрын
no there is no way to adjust as its an auto tensioner. It should set it to the right tension. If the belt is squeaking and its new, you might have another problem at hand. - misaligned pulley - alternator pulley failing (high chance)

Kenapa sya tukar tensioner dan belt bunyi hilang ,tapi bile bukk aircond and tekan minyak ade bunyi balik
@TCsAnythingGoes4 жыл бұрын
Tukar pulley tu.
@miky00076 Жыл бұрын
My mechanic said he replaced my tensioner. yet the strap fell off. I took it to a dealer, where they said that they only changed the pulley on the tensioner, because the belt is not running well on it. I thought I needed a torque wrench and I don't have one.
@TCsAnythingGoes Жыл бұрын
it is close to impossible to put a torque wrench with the limited space there is. Why did the mechanic only change the pulley? Usually the spring on the tensioner gets worn over time and its best to replace it as a set (tensioner and pulley together).

@TCsAnythingGoes7 ай бұрын
@@hunterswrldd i was curious on what a belt tensioner tool then i sort of remember what it is. It is a wrench that is long and thin. Ok, so you use it to turn the bolt on the tensioner and it should move. Then you can use anything that is rigid to lock the tensioner in place. This is to reduce the tension on the belt so you can remove the belt easily.

Bro, my engine is 4B12 2.4...is the belt the same?
@TCsAnythingGoes3 жыл бұрын
4B12 should be using 6PK2565. 4B11 uses 6PK2563. But i do see some sellers selling it as compatible belts. And looking at the difference in length, i guess it should work as well since the length difference is so minimal.
