TCX HERO Waterproof Motorcycle Boots Review

Welcome to Aron Investigates,
I set myself the assignment of finding the ultimate casual motorcycle boots, I needed them to be waterproof and stylish. My investigation took me all over the internet, I obtained and collected information which was vital to my investigation. Once confident with my findings I put my plan into action and ordered a pair of TCX Hero motorcycle boots (waterproof)in Brown from the Vintage Series.
They arrived ready for inspection, here are my findings.

Nice review. I have two other pair of TCX boots and am pleased with them, except for the soles that are very slippery. I just purchased this pair of TXC’s (Hero WP’s) as the sole on these appear MUCH more aggressive and provide MUCH better traction. For my new RT in the Spring, I am also hoping these provide slightly more height. May you always be safe in your rides.

Hey Thanks Illiya yeah these pair have proper grib, they are still going strong and I've had no problems with them. I wouldn't say they have a massive amount of extra height. Motocross boots will give you more for sure. Ride safe!

Thanks for the review. Been looking at these and the Daytona AC Classic. How’s the sizing? My Sidi’s are 44 and fit a little snug. Wear a US size 10.

In terms of safety, does this size protect the shins? Will it protect our bones if we fall to the ground? Is it a safe boot for above the ankle? Or is Sidi Midi Goretex more suitable?

No it doesn't really protect the shins. The sidi midi would be alot safe. I actually bought the sidi adventure first and love them. But then I needed a boot that didn't look out of place around town and coffee shops. Walking in the txc I feel alot of comfort. Different boots for different uses I guess.

Hi Hari, I don't have the boots in front of me at this moment to check, but TCX are an Italian company, from a quick Google search it seems the materials for the boots are sent to Romania and put together there. Then sent back to Italy for quality checks. In regards to your other question, I don't see why these boots cannot replace your everyday boot, but the sole is not as flexible.

Apparently the sole is snow or ski welt (?) which helps maintain strength and waterproof quality, the sole is replaceable.

Hello Aron! It's been a little over a year now. How are you liking these boots? Do you still recommend them? How has the leathered patinaed? I'm trying to decide between the TCX X-blend waterproof and the pair you have (TCX Hero waterproof Vintage). Thank you!

Hi Josh, has it been that long already! Woah. OK so they haven't patinaed much but that's probably down to how much I use them. when it's cold I wear my motocross boots as they are taller. Basically Ive mainly been using these TCX boots in warmer weather as my ankles get too cold in the winter. My actual foot is warm though. I'm still amazed at how comfortable they are. No regrets with the purchase. But if you are riding for an hour each trip and its cold and wet I'd consider getting a taller boot that tucks nicely under your trousers.

Oh also, the zip has been amazing for getting them quickly on and off. The x-blend doesn't have a zip I think. But I really like the brown colour on the x-blend though

Lastly a little annoyance, the extra bit of leather that comes into contact with the shifter isn't that thick

@@sydznl yes still waterproof. But to be fair when I know its going to chuck it down I wear my motocross boots due to it being a higher boot

Haven't tried this model but my tcx boots are like wearing running shoes extremely comfortable. The zippers would be nice.

Might as well get a pair of para boots . I mean that in a nice way as I’ve worn prays on my bike since 86. If you need proper protection you need something that comes with shin protectors etc.

Yeah that would be an option. I have the some Sidi adventure 2 boots with alot of protection already. This time i wanted something lighter, smaller and smarter, and these boots fit that category. Good idea though

Hi there, yes I can confirm that the boots come in a normal brown colour also.

Ah the sole is way stiffer than a doc Martin. It has some kind of bar stiffener inside. Also it's ce level 2 rated. Heel protection too. But nowhere near the level of protection I get from my sidi adventure level 2 boots.

Would you recommend them for a RTW trip? I'm looking for some boots I can walk around town/village/hike around but still have some protection... I know there's no unicorn on that side, it's either protection or walkability... But still, any input would be apreciated :)

Well you can certainly walk and ride in them. Would I take them on a rtw trip? They could handle it but I'd feel safer on motorways with more protection, and something more rugged for tricky sections.

@@aroninvestigates233 Cheers for the quick update. What would be your choice then? With in mind that you wouldn't be switching boots when getting off the bike to visit a town or do a small hike. Daytona GTX? Forma Adventure Low? It's such a tough decision ahha ;)

No worries, I'd choose a boot that is a little taller to stop any rain making its way down there and also for the warmth and shin protection. Both boots you mentioned are a good shout but I'd definitely go for goretex. Daytonas apparently last a long time and have an amazing reputation for quality and comfort. So yeah Daytonas or a mid adventure style boot with goretex.

To add to this I would definitely take a sidi adventure 2 boot if I was on an around the world trip. I've had mine for years and they are absolute gold.

Hello my friend. Will my feet sweat if I wear these tcx boots in summer? Is it suitable for 15 - 35 degrees C in the city or outside the city? I use Vespa between April and September. I am looking for safe 3 season boots. Thank you.

My feet don't sweat alot in the summer here in UK when using these boots. Would look ace on a vespa

I seem to remember there being a similar tcx pair that were not waterproof. Perhaps something like that as waterproof liners don't help with sweaty feet
