I know what you mean man, but sometimes interiors need clutter to make them feel lived in. Exteriors like on buildings and space ships can benefit immensely from creative use of negative space. Look at the Lucrehulk from star wars: the arms of the ship curve around the central command ball-thing. Beautiful use of negative space. And plenty of room for fighters to zip around

Like others have commented, it's not always a matter of choice to build houses without multiple colors 😅 Like when I was kid and I had my Lego collection somewhat decent (for that time and for poor folks) late 80's, I used all kinds of bricks to build houses, or big boats. Like those long techinc pieces with holes in them, because they filled up walls nicely. But yeah, that meant big boats had plenty of holes in them as well as being every possible color involved 😆 But for a kid it didn't matter, since imagination was enough to make each creation coherent and solid unit for all those play hours 👍

I don't understand wtf is wrong with people who run LEGO as a company, as in product decisions. They made hard yellow as a default skin color then they started making asian, black, brown types so as white people skin colors and all this still mixed with the default yellow crap. It's like seeing some bootleg crap that have an identity crisis. Lets make some quick crap and hope it sells. To the point alternative brick toys and bootlegs became far more presentable and in better design and quality while costing 80% less then the shitty LEGO. Most toys have normal scaled designs and skin colors while LEGO still pushes some yellow skin crap from who knows when and idiotically scaled cars that only seats one minifig. It's 2020 not 1960 for fuck sake... Even back in the 50s and 60s there were far better modular toys then the overpriced LEGO crap.
@SqueezeboxOfDelights4 жыл бұрын
@@P33b4Ugo5omwh3r3 personally I prefer the Lego people having yellow skin and stocky, square bodies, and the out-of-scaleness just convinces me that they are not humans, just humanoid. Lego have done more to-scale lines in the past, such as Scala, Belleville and Jack Stone, but none of them have lasted very long and are no longer produced. The yellow skin is also handy as it liquidates the concept of race and skin colour, meaning they don’t have to worry about lash backs to do with racial representation in their sets and your MOCs. Some people prefer skin-tone figures, some prefer traditional yellow ones. I’m a yellow supporter myself. It isn’t that I don’t like the skin tone ones, it’s just they are only really needed for branded sets, where you need to accurately represent a character’s skin and face. The yellow skin works much better in unbranded themes such as City and Creator, and in MOCs.
@P33b4Ugo5omwh3r34 жыл бұрын
@@SqueezeboxOfDelights I see your point. Options are welcome. It just as a whole representation seems like a identity crisis. Still makes no sense to make out of scale vehicles when you made a base for your minifig. Scifi or not. MOCs managed to make proper scales so as others so why the LEGO company owners them selves cant accept this fact and make this. Scala is pretty much a Barbie knockoff and and was even far expensive from Barbie lines so as of those we got plenty of other makers so it made sense to fail. I see the same future with all LEGO things. Alternatives do far better jobs and cost far less. Sooner or later more and more people will stop tossing out money on ego and choose logical products.

Well I can build something that will hold together better then my friends cause I understand how to build something not just put a bunch of pieces together that look good. Say you want a spaceship. I construct the body with a strong build then add small pieces to the surface for detail. I never criticize what others build but is your build strong with overlapping reinforced pieces or just pieces stacked on top of each other? Basically third is a difference between skill and taste in building.

what you've put in this video is very similar advice to minecraft building. you make some really good points! you have good judgement for style and method. made _me_ want to put some of my own advice too, so here's some rules I tend to go by when making things... vary your colours, vary your shapes, vary your placement and vary your decorations - but not _too_ much or it'll look too random (unless that's what you're going for!). next to _nothing_ is naturally uniform, so adjust your building style for what you're making, for example, something more man-made such as a house might not flow and bend like a forest would. go outside of your comfort zone to learn new methods, and don't think too much about what it'll look like when it's done; focus on what you've got and what you think would look good in the moment. what you make depends entirely on _your_ judgement for what looks best, so make what you want and don't worry about what others will think until you're done :)

I hate to say it but i am one of them i am really messy and make alot of mistakes and now after this video Tyler's explanation really made me now just shape myself, looking for another angle even though im watching this in 2024 it is just painful seeing my guaranteed mistakes, thank you for showing us what to change and what to do. This video really inspired me in being into another shape, again thank you Tyler and all those who helped him make the video possible (even though it's possibly just him) thank you.

Now i just feel of being more organized i was super messy, but the mentality, colors, the too many studs or tiles, lessons basically told me to look to a new angle and be creative be your own self. I have seen this as my point of view of the video and really excited to fix my mistakes and restart i know i said it before but i'll say it again, Thank you.

About the 1st step, what happens if you dont have enough bricks to make an easy-on-the-eyes color house? The only Lego set I have is a Lego Classic box, and I can NEVER find enough of one color for a build. I literally built a Lego NES once (before the set was announced), but didn't have enough white bricks for the exterior. Its a miracle for me to even be able to make a full wall with just 1 color, and it'd take a third coming just to make a decently-colored house. Sincerely, No Money-having Soyboy

Empty space is a great way to illustrate something, maybe haunted. Multiple colors are the only means for me to build as I buy a large percentage of my lego previously owned. I build haunted type structured, so boxiness is my best choice.

ONE THING: Some of these things do not count for Stop-Motion sets! (Coming from a brickfilmer.) But the colour one you should *really* listen to! But empty space, for example don't fill your rooms up with a lot of furniture, then you don't have room for fights or walking. And using the big rock pieces can be used for sets you don't need to use for many scenes! NOT to hate on TD BRICKS, but what he sais counts for MOC's, but of you think it counts for brickfilm sets. Don't do that.
