She has a 90’s boom bap sound. She definitely sounds like a female version of the male TDE artists we already know. She chose the right label to sign to regardless of the discrepancies she feels may exist. No other label is going to make her a star with the sound she has and that’s a fact.

I have a lot to say… First of all, so glad that you’re using your platform to shine light on this incredible project, Rob. As usual, you articulated that very well. TDE! A brand you can trust! They’re cemented as one of the best hip-hop labels ever. And hands down the best of their time. They deserve criticism for the lack of releases in recent years, and some drama between the artists and the label. But they always deliver quality. And no label has a better track record of finding new talent, developing them into complete well rounded artists with their own unique sound, and when they present them to the world, you see the complete vision. And none of their artists sound the same which is quite impressive. As for Doechii… she has all the tools to become a superstar and a legendary artist. A highly skilled MC, very good singer, great song writer, versatile, great live performer. She has the talent, the look, the visuals, the personality, and she’s on the right label. Rapsody aside, I’ve been highly critical of the current state of female rap. Though the women are thriving, the skill level, subject matter, and imaging all leave a lot to be desired. “Alligator Bites Never Heal” is incredible! This project is a breath of fresh air. The overall direction, song making, flows, lyricism, singing, vocal inflections, production, sequencing, are all so very well done. She delivered a masterpiece. “DEATH ROLL” is my favorite song, but the entire project is amazing. Zero skips. Hopefully it performs well commercially and establishes her as a star in the making. She gained a fan in me.

Doechii most def one of those ones☝🏾, she’s an absolute POWERHOUSE and I see her amassing continual Global Success and Cult-like following 7:35 - It’s not necessarily always TDE where the creative differences are… It oftentimes the partnering Label, in this case Capitol wanting to tract her artistry one-way while she’s working with TDE for development and to keep her artistic integrity

I didnt know who she was just clicked on the album to see what it was and instantly i was like oh yeah she the one didnt realize she was on tde until she used kendricks get top on the phone... On boom bap... She actually was reminding me or him just from the mixture of so many different styles and influences yet a completely authentic sound... She is dope... And the title had me expecting some r&b man hating ive been traumatized and hurt dysfunctional type shit... But no she is the gator... And might i add it was such a dope project because it feels like a very classic album with just the beat selection and sonics of the album like i would listen to an instrumental version of the album but the she is spitting and i so appreciate a women that raps about anything but her vagina... Not only does she have bars but also substance.. she at the same time reminds me of a rapsody a rah digga a lauryn hill... But she sounds like a doja katt that has a soul and grew up black and didnt lose her mind doing all these antics and weird attention seeking shit.... Tde is a beast man from blue slides sirs album and now this... all dope and distinct sounds they know how to pick and develop artists I give the album a 8.75 or about 4 mics not perfect but damn near Great project i thought i was the only one cause i didnt hear people talking about it

You damn near gotta be tone deaf to not get it. No disrespect to folks that are disabled in that manner. You can’t honestly sit here are say this ain’t one of them projects. I can see a world where guys may not vibe with her lyrics because it’s a women’s point of view or not vibe with her rapping voice. I would caution those types to open their minds. Kendrick threw people off too with the voice inflections. We can’t act like Missy ain’t an all time emcee regardless of gender. Those 2 tracks it’s as if Left Eye came back to life and guarantee if Left Eye was still here this is what it would sound like I have no doubt about it. On GTFO I feel like she lowkey disses Doja Cat and copies/pokes at her flow. I also feel like this how TDE wanted SZA to be.
