Thanks so much for the review. I feel I have too many games already (hundreds) but I suspect I need to squeeze this one in.

Looks like an interesting game. I agree that more games should cover interesting historical events and periods that aren’t necessarily about war.

Thanks for an excellent review. I learned about the "feelies" in this game a few days ago, and now I want every game to include these. They used to be popular with computer games in the 80s, especially the Infocom text adventures. Side note: It would be cool to mention the designers of the games you cover, and not just the publishers. (I think the only designer mentioned in this review is Jason Matthews, who perhaps only inspired this game tangentially)

I am a sucker for games that tackle unconventional stories and themes, and political games, so I was half way there before watching the review. After hearing your lavish praise, I guess I need now to plop down $75 to get it into my collection. Curses, Discriminating Gamer!

I haven’t played co-op. Maybe I will down the road. Love 1989. I keep thinking I need to make a video out of that one. Haven’t played it in years, though.

This one looks good but I have curtailed board game purchases and it looks too similar to “1960” which I already have. Is it different enough to warrant a buy?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer Жыл бұрын
I think it is different enough that I’m keeping both. And I really like them both.
@kevinbertram4828 Жыл бұрын
There are some noticeable differences - Votes for Women has separate player decks, is much more asymmetrical, has very different strategies and has a solitaire/coop option. But 1960 is certainly a great game.

I thought New Jersey was the first state to let women vote back in the 1790s.
@TheDiscriminatingGamer Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, but I believe it was not across the board women's suffrage.
@tbitty83 Жыл бұрын
The original New Jersey constitution did not restrict access to the ballot box by gender or race, and early voter rolls show (mostly white) women in New Jersey voted! But in 1807 they rewrote the constitution to remove land ownership requirements (how progressive!) and included gender restrictions (how regressive!). Utah was the first state to extend the right to vote to women (because of Mormon reasons) but Wyoming held its elections before Utah could, making Wyoming the first state where women voted in elections (after New Jersey!).

Yes, but would you recommend playing this game against your wife / girlfriend? I mean, when I beat my wife at Carcassonne I get enough heat; if I took away her right to vote, I can't imagine the level of ire 😊

Hi Cody. Great overview and review as always - I can see how excited you were by the collateral shrinkrip damage to the box! I'll try and be more restrained when my copy arrives in Oz! BTW didn't the suffragists use peaceful means whereas suffragettes used "any means necessary" to acheive suffrage? All that matters is that we should all be inspired to follow our morals and ideals. Keep up the awesome work!

Me: "A board game about women's suffrage! Awesome! That's definitely something people should learn more about!" *Remembers Cody's ritual of occasionally topical, always groan-inducing jokes at the beginning and end of every video coupled with my experiences in college of people making terrible jokes about this time in history* Me: ".........oh no." i didn't like the theme as today I still believe women should not have the right to vote. I AM ONLY JOKING..! What I want to know is what you lady friend thought of the game? I think her opinion is very important. I would like to know if a non-gaming lady might like this. Because if I can get a lady to play this because of the theme it may lead to other games.
