Had my 2014 Audi A6 3.0 updated. Didn't do anything with the cat and all this noise. It uses a little bit more Ad Blue, (DEF). It's $8-$11 for an entire jug of it. In 10K miles I added some... Car runs great and my warranty is even longer.

The 2014 fix requires new cylinder pressure sensors and it will use more ad blue. The 2016 just needed a software update and will use less ad blue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3PMlZmah99lqcU

Hey bud, I got caught up in the VW TDIgate with my 2013 Passat SE (Love the car!) when I heard they were possibly going to be forced to buy them back I found a 2015 Passat TDI SEL with 8,000 miles for $25,000, (a trade in.) I figured I would sell the 2013 back and keep the 2015, we don't have emissions testing here in NC. Well, it turns out VW will buy my 2015 back for around $32,000, (best investment I have had in awhile.) To say I was floored, and happy, is to put it mildly. My next plan was to sell both cars back to VW and take all the cash and buy a low milage A6 TDI...but now it seems that plan is scrapped as well. On to plan number 3, sell one back now and keep the other until Sept. of 2018 when I can still sell it back, then focus on what other car is out there that looks fun. Right now I'm leaning towards the Genesis G80 AWD, about $54,000. Or a used low mileage Audi A6 3.0T Prestige, under 20k miles for around $47,000. Figure I'm use to paying diesel prices, so screw it and pay for premium. Thanks for all the updates on Diesel Review and good luck on the other channel.

You can buy Adblue from a pump at any truck stop. Why would you need to go to the dealer to top it off? Is the diesel tank supposed to last 10,000 miles also?
@DieselDrives8 жыл бұрын
You clearly don't own an A6. If you read my flaws and problems article dieselreview.net/review/flaws-and-problems-audi-a6-tdi you'll note that the AdBlue filler cap requires the LUG WRENCH to undo. This lug wrench is located in the tool kit in the trunk, underneath the spare tire. This means, at your suggestion, a truck stop, one must unload the trunk, act as if he or she (let's be honest, no woman is going to bother - especially at a truck stop) and proceed to remove the spare tire. So with all your junk in the trunk on display at a truck stop (in front of the DEF dispenser as well), you can easily refill your AdBlue tank with DEF. NO WAY IN HELL.

Few times before pulling off TDI's fuel economy numbers they had decreased the fuel economy numbers on 2.0 TDI (2011+) by about 0.3 l/100 km (don't know how much it is in MPG's). I thought it could maybe be because the had number with a "fix", seems it's probably not the case by what we know so far. Thanks for the infos!

I've recently purchased an A6 TDI with the 3.0. My local Audi dealership has changed the dpf, scr unit with another that has an O2 sensor closer to the engine. The car came back pretty good, however fuel efficiency was at about 34 mpg highway. I've since been able to increase that to about 40 mpg at about 80mph without mods or tuning. The car runs great, in dynamic sports mode the kick into the seat when it picks up is unreal.

Recently bought a 35k miles 2015 Macan 3L diesel which has most irritating tapping noise at low revs and low load. As soon as I apply throttle the noise disappears and engine is smooth. Sounds as though there are mechanical clearances at low revs and they go when loading occurs. Can you give an explanation please as neither Porsche nor Audi dealers can?
@DieselDrives4 жыл бұрын
It's the diesel fuel injectors. They pulse 5 times per compression stroke at 35k psi, which is enough pressure for water to cut through steel. You are hearing the injectors. Fuel filter must be changed every 20k miles. Make sure that was done. Be sure you are using the correct engine oil (LL03 spec if I recall correctly). There will always be different sounds from diesel and gas direct injection engines due to air temperature differences. Air temps change combustion, especially in diesels due to air density and flash point for combustion. I'm not an engineer, but I have owned 2 A6 TDI models, a Mercedes E350 bluetec, and two VW TDI models in a span of 8 years. They will run forever.

I just bought a 2015 Q7 TDI Vorsprung from a Florida dealer. The window sticker shows the mpg as 22/33. It turns out this was a Canadian made for model. Do they (Canada) have lower emission standards and is this the reason the mpg was higher than an American made for TDI ? I tried to go into the vwsettlement site, but it won't take my vin #. If they are able to find a fix for the 3.0tdi, does that just leave us owners with deprecated vehicles that nobody will want due to the tarnished reputation of VW's tdi's? We have been waiting for more then a year for a fix, all while our cars deprecated and nobody wants to take them. What will the compensation for us likely be if there is no buyback?
@DieselDrives8 жыл бұрын
+JP That's my question as well. The VW dealers already won compensation from the courts. We should be allowed compensation under the same reason. Furthermore, these dealers are going to have revenue from buyback processing AND an additional sale to the owner who turns it in (if they choose to stay with VW). There better be a buyback and compensation.
@PBsandwichlover8 жыл бұрын
You damn right there better be a buy back. Complete BS to leave the consumer high and dry with a force fixed. Every reason I purchased the TDI (MPG's, Resale, Performance, Environmental, Reliability) all could be hindered due to this scenario. There are two different V6 diesels affected. One makes 408 lb-ft or torque, the other makes 428 lb-ft. The A6 makes 428 lb-ft and includes the all-in-one catalytic converter, dpf, and scr. This is the Gen 2 engine and it's found in the Q5, A6, and A7. The 408 lb-ft is found in the Q7 and A8. However, in 2014, the A8 received the Gen 2.

Diesel Review Yeah I read that after I watched your video. Thanks for taking the time to reply though. Yeah this happened with the 2.0L Diesels as well. They tend to give about a month between updates. Apparently Breyer is "very optimistic" that a resolution can be found, but as I recall that was the same wording used with the 2.0L diesels before; so it is hard to get much info based on that. If he isn't thrilled with the progress in December he will give them another 30 days to work on it before a court date. Once there is an actual court date on the books Audi\VW will move quickly to avoid any hearings. From there it will take 4-6 months to reach resolution. According to Reuters though the plan so far does not involve buying back our cars, but we will see what happens with that. www.reuters.com/article/us-volkswagen-emissions-idUSKBN12Y203

I have a 2016 A6 TDI Prestige, B&O, Comfort Seats.... sitting in the garage since October 2016. I drive press cars all the time but on the occasion I don't, I purchased an A3 quattro as a commuter since I was worried about a total loss beyond my control. Would I keep it? Nope. One look at the 2019 A8 and I'm sure the new A6 and A7 won't be too far away. Diesel is great for range - that's a luxury most overlook and don't understand. Before you cancel your A6 order, head over to Porsche and check out the new Panamera. One thing all long distance road trip vehicles should have is an air suspension. The current A8 with massage seats and a V8 (or even the supercharged V6) would be a screaming deal by December 2017 (and the A8 includes air suspension!).

Our 2014 diesel Cayenne now jerks and jolts under 25 MPH. It has a serious jolt. It is scary at times. Dealership had no clue how to fix, ran it up through channels and was told that is part of the fix. All cars with repair will have this issue. Won't fix it further.

Ff they increased the flow of the Adblue to correct the emission I wouldn't have a problem adding it myself to compensate for the small tank. Give me the Adblue and a simple system where I don't have to go to the dealer and done. That must of been too simple to he Corp. fools.
@DieselDrives7 жыл бұрын
+Kelly Fontes The issue is deeper than that. AdBlue dosage is one issue. Even if that is adjusted, the 2 gallon tank would need to be easier to fill. I need to use the leg wrench just to access it. Then there's the issue of the stainless steel exhaust. Will it withstand additional AdBlue?

I own that same car they will have to give me 55000 dollars, i will not allow them to reduce the power or otherwise.
@DieselDrives8 жыл бұрын
They are going to need to cough up more than that. The sales tax alone on a $55k-$125k purchase (Q5 through A8) is going to be ten thousand dollars and up, including the sales tax on the replacement car (which will also be in the $55k-$125k range). I haven't even broken out the calculator to figure the cost of depreciation, which we know will not line up with the existing leases. If your car is leased, you can stick it to them by turning it in at the end. If it's financed or a cash purchase, full refunds plus damages and nothing less. It's pure, willful, negligence on the defendant's part.

So far, it's not all Audi models. It pertains to models with quattro and ZF8 transmissions. However, it could include V6 models only, but might also be V8 models. There's no specific information yet, and it appears to be logic relegated to the transmission software, not the engine management software. We must wait and see how this story develops.

Yep, I agree. I just think with this new news the U.S. regulators and The Justice Dept will not have any patience with Audi this time around and in the long run it may cost Audi by killing VW and maybe something else (another brand) here in the US on top of another massive fine. I also think this new find will really shake consumer confidence in Audi for several years.
