thanks for the trip down memory lane. I particularly enjoyed the ma and max, still have those and perchased a pioneer multi cassette changer. It has a tape indicator that specifies large or normal hubsizes and the progress is tracked on a display. now AI have seen the large hub.

never had a MA-X, got a bunch of MAs, the worst Metal tape I had was Fuji, not because of sound quality, my car deck would chew em up easily, great video 👏🏾👏🏾💯
@RUfromthe40s3 жыл бұрын
so did mine, but never again use metal tapes on my car and never again i bought fuji cassettes that wasn´t the only problem with them, and i liked very much the film to analogue camera´s they had ,colour or black and white. . I had a kenwood ,with a knob for bass and another for treble and loudness automatic ,when over the midle volume you could notice the loudness becoming off, i also had 8 woofers in a ford escort early 90´s rs2000 and a equalizer that either than fader had volume 10w+10watts ,but i bought the car with one year from a friend of mine, it was a laugh( i would never install 8 woofers in a car 4 are more than enough) ,later some were saying that they had a car cd audio and it had perfect sound ,when in my ford they would become speechless with the power and quality of sound inside ,the music was loud but no hurt in the ears, and i knew other that had under the front seats two huge woofers from pioneer ,like more than 30 cm wide with amps. ,you could talk to the person next to you but no words only the mouth moving

Hey I been trying like fuck to find blank TDK or Maxell tapes and chrome tapes in retail stores. Anyone out there know a distributor is still stocking blank audio tapes in the adelaide australia region.
@KRAZEEIZATION8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there are no stores selling cassettes simply because they are not bring manufactured! There is blank tapes being made in Korea by SKC but Type II TDK, Maxell and Sony are long gone! Maxell still pump out the UR and that's the only one you're likely to find but these are cheap n nasty! EBAY is your best bet but look around for the lowest price as good type IIs now ho for big bucks! As for Adelaide, I lived there for two months back in 1997 before moving to Melbourne. Nice town!

It will be interesting to see what happens IF there is a nostalgia mass return to cassettes, after all audiophiles realized that digital sources just can't offer that very unique warm analog quality to music like vinyl, cassette, and reel to reel can. I think I already saw a story about the resurgence of cassette tapes for audiophiles. If the demand and prices people are willing to pay goes high enough I would bet that TDK, Maxell, and Sony might pull out the old tooling and start producing again.

So in regards to the sound quality of the MA-XG you said "you'd have to hear it really". Is that bad? Is that good? You said the MA-X was the best sound you could get so it's not as good as that I'm guessing?

@@KRAZEEIZATION alright thanks. I kind of like the MA-XG shell over the MA-R but I wouldn't want to lose any sound quality. Especially for how much they go for. Thinking about pulling that trigger

The sound of any tapes also depends on the quality of your deck really. If you have a high grade recording device you can get a better recording quality if you have a high grade Walkman you can record onto your computer in high quality. If it's a later higher grade Walkman with Normal, Megabass, Megabass Groove and Sound Revitalisation on it even better because on a Ferric you can use SR mode to make them sound great because it helps output the treble as it should sound on a higher grade Chrome tape standard, you can use Megabass Groove to set the bass of a Chrome to a Ferric standard and you can normal Megabass a metal tape to make the bass on a metal Ferric standard. Just be sure to record on the computer in true uncompressed Wave format and to also not let it run on battery put it in the mains and you can have a digital copy of whats on the tape too. Definitely the deck matters as well I would say because if you have EQ tricks on your deck to make tapes sound as good as other tapes in the sound ranges they fail at normally then you can get a CD quality sound on the best graded tapes from each type. Did you know that there was a load of existing hybrid tape types as well made for the market to so called improve the sound quality of all the normal tape types on the market Maxell were the only ones by the looks of things who made a Hybrid of Normal Metal compound with Colbalt Alloy Metal compound but even they exist and even Type II hybrids exist on a fun reel looking tape which I think might be an exclusive hybrid too. The only couple of types of hybrids done by a ton of brands seems to be the Ferric Cobalt Hybrids and the FerroChrome Hybrids the Chrome and Metal Colbalt Hybrids seem to be only brand exclusive on my first glance at hybrid cassette technology. Cobalt Ferric Type I Hybrid www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-2-MAXELL-UDI-CD-60-120-min-Cobalt-Alloy-Audio-Cassette-Tapes-New-Sealed-/172511511967?hash=item282a7cc59f:g:w-8AAOSw~OVW1Q-M Cobalt Chrome Type II Hybrid www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TEAC-Cobalt-52G-Metal-Reel-RARE-Cassette-Tape-X4-/272535881717?hash=item3f746787f5:g:5nEAAOSwjDZYimgi Cobalt Metal Type IV Hybrid www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Maxell-MX-S-C100-Type-IV-Metal-Blank-Audio-Cassette-Tape-NEW-Sealed/122362619053?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D14b97dc6716948bd8451efb1199e86bb%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D272535881717 There was never a Type III Hybrid out as that in itself was a Ferric Chrome Hybrid. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-FeCr-90-1-NEW-BLANK-AUDIO-CASSETTE-TAPE-Type-III-FerroChrome-Record-90min-/122326768290?hash=item1c7b3e5aa2:g:RD0AAOSwzJ5XUwao What Hybrid would you say would win the battle? Would love to see a batle of the hybrids if you can afford one of each hybrid that is as hybrids are expensive in all flavors of tape grade.
