Question. Which one is better for a medium-large straight hair? The MSB or the SMSB??
@TDMStyle4 жыл бұрын
Haven’t tried the strong version yet but I would assume that one.
@mattwilson33214 жыл бұрын
Tried the Strong MSB and it’s become a top-3 styler for me. It has great hold and texture while remaining pliable. The Strong version has volcanic ash and carnauba wax (which accounts for the increased hold) added. Great stuff.
@TDMStyle4 жыл бұрын
Ah, interesting! I tried this regular version again last week with my new shorter cut. It was definitely better performance than it was with my longer hair, but I still didn't feel it was worth my 45 smackers. Sounds like the strong version might be, though!

Like you said, there are a lot of products that do similar things on the market for much less albeit with fewer frills. I think Fuertes Clay, Fatboy Perfect Putty, as well as several other homebrews have very reasonable alternatives with better price point and availability. (And doesn't get reformulated/rebranded every year)
@garrettmcgrath21444 жыл бұрын
Those products behave very differently in my hair. If they perform similarly for you I don’t think you should assume that means they are ‘exactly the same’ for every hair type.

Yeah, honestly, I think the whole stated novelty of the product is kinda misleading. I've gone back and forth on this, but after using both side by side for a while now (TSB01 and MSB), I've come to the conclusion that it's basically the same exact product, reformulated with fewer ingredients and more expensive packaging, hence the higher price point. I still think maybe there's a slight difference in the matte appearance of the two. I'd definitely say they're both matte but they both also somehow impart a healthy "glow" to the hair, not a shine but something that darkens and boosts the natural color of your hair. TSB01 looks a little better, a little healthier looking I think, probably thanks to the many more oils in it, while MSB is slightly more matte perhaps because of the higher clay content. Both plump the hair, leaving it looking thicker. I can get a firm hold out of both, but I have to layer quite a bit in to achieve that (about twice as much as Matt used here or more), and I'm guessing neither were made to do that. Using it how most would normally, like how Matt did, it's a solid medium, I would agree. (I've never heard of the strong version until now and it'll be interesting to see how that compares). It's pretty much been a go to product of mine since I first tried TSB01. I always come back to it after a while. Why? For me, it's the look, hold, and scent that I love. It's mainly the look though. Call me crazy, but the way a product looks in my hair is just as, if not more, important than the hold itself. Even if two different products have a matte finish, with a similar level of shine (or non shine), there's bound to be other subtle differences between the two that I always notice. And I just love Morris Motely's thickening, texturizing vital glow it leaves my hair with. Like none other.

After using TSB for over two years, I finished a jar of MSB and I am disappointed. The product is definitely inferior and more expensive. I am done with Mm.

Have you found a better alternative to the original TSB yet?
@phillipandrew874 ай бұрын
@@samiavci3080 never did. But I've been out of the hair game for a while. Been growing out my hair for over two years and have barely used any product at all in that time period. I would say the updated MSB is a good substitute, if not the exact same. But stay away from the strong hold version of it. I had that and it turned rock hard within a month (I was storing it properly too so it wasn't that).

This stuff styles nicely for me initially but doesn’t have any endurance. In my opinion, it was a bold move raising their prices. They were already on the line of being over priced, but were definitely premium compared to home brews. But not sure that they compete with other hair products that cost >40. first that comes to mind is Oribe and their products kick ass comparatively in all aspects. Scents would fuck you up.

Morris Motley is simply overpriced. I have used their chrome & TSB2 before...but I find that other home brew stuffs work far better than MM.
