Jimi's timing is critical to this song, but it is impossible to duplicate. Imo, Little Wing has to be covered by making it your own. They took that approach and came up with a beautiful arrangement that captured the spirit of the song. Magic!

I had no idea this was a Jimmy Hendrix cover. They made this their own and paid homage at the same time. It's a shame they didn't get the recoqnition they deserved. They were a genuinely talented group that didn't need to hide behind an "X Factor" make over! Amazing!!! Blesings and respect to them whatever they're doing now.

@@RtripleA They just strummed acoustics and made some nice harmonies and missed all the elements and subtleties, drama and dynamics that made the Hendrix original so great and atmospheric and special. I've seen local bar-band musicians do a much better version. Sorry, not my opinion, but musically analyse what they are doing, even on a superficial level and you will see its quite a terrible, humdrum and mediocre cover. I'd urge everyone who has seen this check the Hendrix original that is WAYYY superior.....

@@pennywright1111: Let me tell you something I've never seen described anywhere. Jimi didn't have any speakers onstage. They were all up in the arena stands up top, around the arena, not seeing them. Two sets of guitar and bass amps on both sides of the drums. Jimi had two mike facing out sideways, singing into one or the other or both. Two tables with roadies in front of the stage, two flat-beds end to end, each had half the wires coming from the stage and half the wires going up to the speakers, Each roadie sat in front of what looked like a copper album. When Jimi waved his guitar to the right the roadies turned the copper albums and the sound moved to the right. I wish I had more room here. When Little Wing flew away everyone was staring up at the rafters. Waves came at you, sound moved around, not like you were stereo or quadraphonic, everything atmospheric and moving in every way. It was hypnotizing. Jimi said he was standing in the center of his axis of sound and explained why the seats were arranged in sections for listeners. He was very scientific, a total surprise. No-one else has ever done as much and sounded so inspiring. It made me leave a university scholarship and college bursary behind to get a factory job to buy the same equipment. I went with a 16 year old friend after his parents asked me to go with him so he wasn't alone in Toronto. They ordered the most expensive tickets, $5.50, sitting fifty feet away from the middle of the stage.

@@johnwattdotca the way that you just described that gives me an incredible idea of what it must have been like. Well done! Definitely a musical genius!
@johnwattdotca4 жыл бұрын
@@pennywright1111: Jimi was a U.S.A.F. radar technician. He hired an English electrical inventor to transform radar technology for guitar amplifiers, having the first phase shifter, flanger, forever echo and other effects. The Stratocaster had individual, two-way bridges for each string, the invention that let you plug a Strat into an oscilloscope, what TV repairmen used to tune TV frequencies, what allowed Jimi to get the most out of effects and have so many studio over-dubs, and that was using tapes, not even analog. When the C.I.A. asked Magnavox to built the first two twelve-track tape recorders in the world, they gave Jimi one. You can see why Jimi struggled with a right-handed Strat standing up onstage just to play one. That created scientific tuning, everything else now tempered tuning. I'm left-handed. Jimi gave me a reason to try harder myself. He did everything he could to put your head through, including being very scientific and talking about science fiction. When home entertainment units had stereo demonstration records with trains and jets going side to side, Jimi was all-around sound. However, I hope you are stock-piling food.
