Gwen was an idiot on that one and Courtney didn't deserve to be cheated on, but there's a point that's rarely brought to discussions: As much as Gwen and Duncan deserve a backlash, Courtney was worse both before and after the kiss. Courtney abused Duncan during their time together and was shown to be entitled, vengeful and even homicidal toward other characters. Her anger issues are second only to Eva and the female ice dancer. If she was in juvie, she would've been worse than Duncan.

I think the love triangle was also added to nerf the Courtney - Gwen - Duncan alliance. Like hell that alliance has two finalists and the competitive monster that is Courtney, plus the added by-proxy ally, Cody, since he simps for Gwen. What they COULD have done, tho, is add the love triangle after the merge (which would make more sense since Gwen and Duncan would’ve spent more time together). Maybe instead of Tyler, Sierra discovers them and Alejandro uses her to start ripping them off and also manipulating Courtney. Without Heather tho, I could see an Alejandro / Courtney finale after Courtney realizes he has been using her, which would be dope.
