love your attitude, Nikki... enjoyed your chat. I currently have a base of 7kgs, and its manageable. But adding in 10 days of food will be challenging! BTW that strange smell from our place is me dehydrating everything i can find! haha! Sandy

Thank you, hiking gear is important and it’s interesting how it changes over time and necessity!

Kia ora Nikki. For water, I suggest a bottle in one of your shoulder strap pockets and a one litre store in one of your side pockets of your pack. You might need a third litre store when you go through the Tararua Range as Dracophyllum and Nicholls Hut have been known to run out of water over summer. Love the food bag especially as you have it doubling as a night table. Instead of one 20K mAh charge bank have you considered two 10K. And a 7kgs base weight is fine. By the time you get to the Richmond-Red Hills Track, you’ll be strong and carrying 10 days of food will be no problem. You mentioned you’re filming. On what? If on your phone, be sure to have your waterproof bag handy when you’re on the Whanganui. And finally what are your plans for uploading to KZbin or other socials?

Hi, thank you for your response and I think you may not have seen my 2nd gear video about my water, I’ll have a bottle in each side pocket to even the weight and an extra 2 litres for longer sections. I have already bought the 20k charge bank which I’m happy with but unfortunately it’s heavier than two of the 10k!! I’m filming on my iPhone and using an iPad to edit movies. I don’t think I could create movies on my phone as it’s too small!!! I’ve had to practice carrying the iPad to make sure it doesn’t get damaged. Not sure how that is going to work on the TA but let’s see… Thank you for taking the time to give me your thoughts and help 😀
