TE DEUM - Classical gregorian hymn

As we close the year, we want to raise our eyes to the Lord and Master of history so that, even though we find ourselves in dark times, we can praise and thank him with the great "Te Deum," which the Church has been singing since the fourth century. An ancient tradition tells that, when St. Ambrose baptized St. Augustine, they would have sung this song together for the first time. We filmed the video in the Birnau Basilica, considered the "baroque jewel" of our region, Lake of Constance in Germany.

@@gertrudesantos5550 sorry, I got it from various sources here & there including an historic novel (remember something like this, paraphrasing, ”awake all night, until she heard the te Deum singing and a new day began”) Remember, Europe before the reformation and industrialisation was very different: monks & nuns dominated the spiritual landscape in towns. In my hometown Lund/Sweden archeology and historic sources reveal a multitude of small chapels belonging to different orders and associations, basically a small church for every neighbourhood. Same in the villages in the countryside; even if there was i bigger church to go to for sundays, each village had a place for prayer and worship during weekdays. The workday started with morning prayer and singing te Deum and ended with vesper. Pater noster & ave maria was said during the day. The prayers were actually a way of measure time. A cookbook could say ” and let it boil the same time it takes to say three ”ave maria”. Just try to read a little about daily life and You probably find Your sources.

I live in a town founded a thousand years ago with a cathedral about 800 years old, and it comes naturally to learn a little bit about daily life here in old days; news articles, public lectures, booklets for various anniversaries etcetera. Try to find something about ordinary daily life before reformation and You will find sources

PS! The reformation in the Scandinavian countries was a brutal from top down, and not at all anything with public support. All the small churches and chapels in my town Lund were taken down in a very short time and only the cathedral and another bigger church in stone remained. The traditional piety was surpressed. Still an echo remains: the bells of the cathedral sounds 8 o’clock every morning as if calling for communial morning prayer and at 20 o’clock in evening when it is time to pray completorium and also for prayer for the souls in purgatory as in catholic countries though the population of Lund wouldn’t know todays.

Absolutely, He's so kind and loving God. He is so merciful. He gave us the chance to pray the "Chapelet of the Divine Mercy every day at 3 o'clock" to let us get some graces from His wounds, where the left side flows blood and water. He told Saint Faustina to tell all the prayers, to pray The Divine Mercy Chapelet. They will be abundantly blessed. Praise be to the Lord 🙏❤️
