I'm a white boy from the mainland that loves Island Culture and the Aloha spirit of the Islands. The past and present history of native people in general upsets me. Heck, sometimes I wish I were a Pacific Islander. Such a beautiful culture: food, music, nature worshiping religion, art and about respect above all things. Te Vaka is the best music I have come across. Love that it's a full band and they mix contemporary music with traditional.

Maururu roa. Te aroha ia rahi.

Papa e (The Lagoon) A song for my father -In search of a better way of life, Ope's father left the small island of Fakaofo in Tokelau This song is about the feelings, emotions and sadness he experienced as he watched the coconut palms and shoreline disappear as he sailed away from Tokelau for the first time.

There is a belief on the islands that its not the color of your skin, but the Island (saying this generally) Spirit that you live by. I am not saying there is no form of racism, but islanders are definitely welcoming to people who live in the ways of the islands, and live to embrace the culture. In that spirit, anyone is welcome to call themselves an islander, well more complicated than that. (P.S. I Lived and was raised in the Pacific, miles SW of Hawaii, so I can say I know a bit about this).

The meaning of 'Aue' in Kiribati is that it indicates how the person kinda show off. Then they will say 'Aue' e. g 'Aue gkoe ko papa ke' In English 'Aue you're so stupid/crazy'.. So love from my beautiful island Kiribati te Boboto

yes, I agree. Blankets were laced with small pocks of those natives that had died of it and the blankets were then taken back and traded again. Man, continues to come up with ways to destroy and hurt. (Terrorisms!; biological warfare, bombs, etc.) There has to be opposition until the end of this world and the beginning of the mellinium.

yep! (braddah) Back in the colonial days when the colonizing countries had the believe or notion of conquering lands westward all the way to the orient, the people at the time believed in colonizing. (Spain, Holland, Portugal, England) all for the gain of spices and goods. Back then the colonizers did not know about the deseases they brought over to the islands and America.

That is good that you are not a racist. But just to let you know. Don't use "White" when it comes to distinguishing a person. It makes the person sound like a racist. Like if I would say "why is there a black man in my kitchen?" You see that is would be a racist remark because it makes me look like I don't like blacks. When you said "why is there a white dude in the band" it makes you look like you have something against white people. #1
