I assumed a timing issue in the first video, good to see you found the cause and posted it for us. :) I'm assuming the fuel bowl issues were because of the mechanical pump taking its sweet time to fill them, or was it something else like stuck needle valves? Either way it sounds sweet now. Did you have to tune the ITB balance or acceleration pump jets? The pickup is pretty good off the high idle and the throttle bodies also seem quite balanced - although it's hard to tell how well with the high idle. Doesn't quite have the same induction roar as my brother's SOHC ITB Datsun 510 which is interesting, I wonder how much the DOHC influences that sound along with not needing as lumpy cams. Haven't been in a TE71 GT but I remember riding in a friends AE86 on a bumpy road going to a rally. Nice engines, but the handling seemed more tuned for smoother roads. :)
