Thank you so much Dianne, I really really love ❤️ these teabag art. And as far as I’m concerned I really really enjoyed watching you create these stunning and gorgeous things. I really really think 🤔 that they are too good for cards or bookmarks 🔖. They are works of art each and everyone. They are really really incredibly beautiful and really should be sold as pieces to put on the wall where they can be appreciated properly.... Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags

I have literally hundreds of used teabags waiting to be made into art. I love what you have done with yours, and I agree with you - the abstract ones are my favourite. Using the gold leaf to accentuate the holes is an inspiration - it reminds me of Japanese Kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with gold. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing.

I have been saving my tea bags. A good many of them are from green tea to which I add Ginger, Tumeric, and honey. The turmeric gives them the most luscious color !!! This was a MOST interesting video. Thank you very much ! I am excited to try painting those tea bags.

What a great technique. I am wondering if you could actually stamp on the bags instead of drawing. I am a tea drinker so I can see myself doing this - well at least a few of them maybe - not dozens though. Thank you for explaining the in depth process on your blog - I found it to be most interesting.
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 8 жыл бұрын
Ruth Burr Hello Ruth, yes, stamping did work ok, depending on the ink and colour used...you would need to play and see. I tried a silhouette grass stamp but it was a bit "pale" even with Stazon and Archival...text stamps need to be a good font size to be clear...maybe some bags are different though and it depends on the look you want..thanks to your reminder I added some information to my blog post...Di xx

Thanks for showing how to paint on dried teabags! Did you use spray adhesive to add the goldleaf? ❤️💐❤️
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment Gaila, it is a while ago now since I made these but I always use Gold Size adhesive for any metal leaf application. I have found in the past that "other" adhesives simply don't hold well enough...but if you don't have it on hand then perhaps the spray adhesive would be fine on such tiny areas...a card is generally not required to have great longevity, after all ;) Dx
@gailagilliland3268
@gailagilliland3268 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for replying so quickly, Di! Spray adhesive it will be then. Where do you find the gold colored adhesive?
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 6 жыл бұрын
I cannot tell from your link where you live, but most places that sell the metal leaf will sell the special adhesive, or should do...it is called "Size". The brand I use here in Australia is an X-PressIT product and comes in an 125 ml size container...I don't use much of it. Most art supply stores here sell something along these lines...it may be called gilding size or gilding adhesive...it comes in both oil or water based compositions, I think the oil based one is mainly for using on oil pastels, oil paints etc. (Mine is water based). But if you don't want to apply large areas of metallic leaf to a project and you are not selling the item, just try whatever nice sticky glue or even tiny pieces of double sided tape that you have to hand. I'm sure it will stay put long enough for the purpose...If you are selling the items than I would definitely go with the size...hope this helps, Dx PS I found this little YT video by the chap that invented gilding size, if you want to follow it up...kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaLHnnSVj9aYr9k Have fun! D

Just beautiful Dianne!! What kind of tea are you using?
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Laurie, thanks for your lovely comment...I just saved my usual black tea bags, (most of the ones used in the video were Twinings brand), but also some herbal and green tea as well. I like the size and fragility of these bags...others I tried were smaller or harder to open out, but generally speaking I just use what I have available...I have just started using these recycled bags in collage projects too, for texture and colour...Dx

Thanks Dianne. Thats what I wanted to know, because your tea bags seemed larger than normal. And I love how the tea stained just in the middle of the bag and not all over. That makes for lovely edges. Is the tea bags more of a triangle shape than a flat square?
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Laurie, I just added a new video, detailing the type of tea bag I use and how I prepare them for use...I hope it explains the type of bag I use...I have also used the flat tea pot bags, The ones I have used were square and required me to use a pair of scissors to cut away the tiny edges on all four sides...they did not unwrap as the larger bags do...good luck, Dix

Hi. I just found your video and I love your style! What pen set are you using?
@inkyfingy
@inkyfingy 5 жыл бұрын
Hello Kory, thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment...the pens I have been using to best effect on my tea bag play sessions have been the fine tip ends of my very ancient Stamping Up set that I really don't use very much at all on anything else. They seem to work very well on the fine tea bag fabric. Dx

Di that’s absolutely fantastic and stunning and awesome. I really love 💖 all of these. You’re so talented and clever, and what type of tea bags are they because mine that I’ve dried aren’t as large as those ? I’m new to you’re work, but I’m signed up now.

Thank you so much Mags...I am not sure where you live, but the tea bags I use most frequently here in Tasmania are made by Twinings and Yorkshire teas. I have another small video @ kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6bYYWx4g6eSm6s ...about the type of bags I use and how I empty them, because others have since asked these questions. I also used some Rooibos bags in a project, because I liked the pinky colour and wanted the small square shape, but I had to trim the sides of those with scissors to separate the two layers. Don't forget to share your projects if you get some done, I'd love to see what you make...hope this helps, DX
