Was this song associated with the Kent State Shootings ? I seem to remember this song was linked to the anti-Vietnam War protests movement 🤔? Regardless, this song and many others from my youth are timeless!

Funny he would always look at me out of the 8 kids and say why aren't you singing lol I was the youngest and shy. he'd say why be shy it's your family 😂 sing. He finally got me into the swing choir that's almost like a school choir but we went to state And would sing in a group of 10. I absolutely love this song. The best memories. And the lyrics are True.

I stumbled onto his video and have forgotten how much I like this song. It was a harsh time in the late 60's early 70's with the war in Vietnam and this song brought a sense of calm and when I look back on my life with my children now grown adults, the 2nd half of the song is how my children has come full circle as I've learned so much from them. I guess this song is as relevant for me today than it was 50 years ago. Did NOT know the Jerry Garcia story and it's a pretty good one when I looked it up.

Supposedly the Greatful Dead were in the recoding studio next door and Crosby went over and asked Gerry if he'd mind adding his touch and magic to this beautiful piece of melodious art., Great Job Gerry, one of the best uses of the Steel Guitar, EVER!!

Now I have to teach my grand children this music once they’re a little older. This music can’t be forgotten just like swing music should not be forgotten from the ‘30s & ‘40s.

I am one fortunate person to have met both Stephen and David at Stephens Malibu beach house on a Sunday afternoon late Sept. 1973 Sadly and strangely they were having a wake for Gram Parsons. It was at this house that the plot to steal Gram's body was hatched! I was there and heard them talking about getting a prop hearse! David gave me and my friend a lift back up the coast because he was going back to Santa Barbara to his ranch. I was 17 years old had been in California barely three days and honestly had no clue who the two men I met were. David Crosby gave me my first PCH sunset ride, But his old Ford van was a cargo van and I sat in an old overstuffed chair he had placed back there! Would you think the guy driving a beater van was a rock star?

I fed mine the scriptures the gospel but as the world got more liberal, they seem to go with the world. Its sad that some of my dreams I gave to them was just that a dream. I love them unconditionally but Gods word doesnt offer compromise. Its either cold or hot. God is so merciful and He is good and with that knowledge of God, they will see as they grow old just how their choices was not what I meant for them. All of them are good men and women. Its true, dont you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry. God understands and waits.
