Thank you for this, I’ve just started agility lessons with my dog, however my friend who makes agility equipment gave me a set of 6 weave polls for my birthday. or though we haven’t started on weaves during lessons yet I want to try them out and get a head start. :D

Thank you for this, I'm currently just staying our for lessons and doing it just by guessing and she's kinda getting there. I started with going through handing my hand out with her food and just starting bu that. I then went on using a lead

I really enjoyed your video. I am a first time dog trainer even though I have had dogs all my life… and everything is new to me now.I started agility to see how it feels with my malinouis and they showed us the lure method for the weaves, but he has such a high drive and needs to feel like he is playing to learn. So I am going to try to 2 other methods you shared.thanks

I can't use the lure method because she is going to try and nibble me for the food and it's annoying, do you have a video of you explaining her not to do it please?

We have a 1-year-old who does the lure method perfectly (either toy or food works)...but we can't figure out how to get to him doing it independent of the lure. Our setup is a fixed 6 pole construction on a concrete surface...so we can't change the arrangement of the straight line of poles. How do we move on to independence? He gets the treat after successful completion following the lure presently.

Can you remove poles so it is just two poles? If you can start off with two and get them to go through without any lure then reward, build it up slowly over several sessions adding a pole at a time.

I used the v method it was quite quick and only took about 1 week to weave 6 poles at an ok speed but I need to work on distance do you have any ideas

Hi, well done on teaching the weaves! I found using a target at the end of the weaves with a treat or a 'dead' toy gives the dog something to aim for and focus on. Then try and limit your movements, instead of running directly next to them. Each session try and move away slightly each time so you are further away. Hope this helps! x

Do you think doing the channel method first gave her a good background for 2x2?
@bethandthedogs Жыл бұрын
I think so! We did a mixture of all of these methods and I really think that has helped her with her weaves. Her weaves are really strong now and she is independent with them, meaning I can send her and not run next to her which will really help when we get to higher grade courses.
