I had Henrici for my numerical analysis text. Numerical analysis was my favorite math class. I was a CS major, so it was a good fit for my interests. The book is still on my shelf 50 years later.

I studied numerical analysis for a two-course sequence out of Dahlquist and Bjork, and the teacher couldn't lecture his way out of a wet paper bag. My interest in numerical analysis died about 1/4 of the way into the first semester.

"Analysis of Numerical Methods" by Eugene Isaacson and Herbert Keller (Dover) is another good read.

I am so old that I remember thinking 1980 was way in the future. Now it is way in the past 🤦♂️

Are you 80? Around that ballpark? My paternal grandfather is still alive. He just turned 98 about two months ago. He probably thought the same thing that 1980 was way in the future and of course it's now way in the past. 1980 was nine years before my time.

I still have my book from my engineering education. I recall enjoying that class.

I have not taken a course in numerical analysis, but I have the fourth edition of this book, which Curtis F. Gerald wrote along with Patrick O. Wheatley. The color scheme is pleasing esthetically and it has been an interesting supplement to my precalculus, technical mathematics, calculus, linear algebra and statistics books. I wonder what The Math Sorcerer would say if he smelled my copy. I think that it emits a vanilla spice scent.

I have that book. I took a numerical methods class during a summer semester.

I have the fifth edition of this book and It's pretty good. It's a bit beyond me at this point but I plan to go through it someday, maybe after I finished Linear Algebra.

Sir, I am a high school student and want to learn something out of the school syllabus. Can you please suggest me a small book, (not more than 200 pages) about some very small topics of any subject in Maths and Science? Like Number theory, Game theory, Integrals, etc.

Sir I am your big fan and watch your all videos which you post. They are very helpful. Sir Please suggest a best book for electric circuit analysis for BS EE. I am a freshman.
@Ajay_Kumar-uq8rd3 ай бұрын
There is prof university of Colorado at boulder. He does a good job teaching ee circuits. It is key to get the fundamental analysis otherwise no good. I wasted time.
@Ajay_Kumar-uq8rd3 ай бұрын
Math is absolutely essential. KA stroud engineering mathematics. Both 1 and 2. Some online help if you get stuck. It will help later but get that behind you. It could be any other good author if you can research. Just don't expect good teaching in EE. All if not most don't care.

Not a very good approach to understand the concepts.. many math teachers use this strategy and get very angry when you ask them to elaborate more on the concept that they are trying to teach... very weak teaching strategy..

People like these never got any pleasure from trying to understand the nuances of our environment.. rather they did mathematics because they thought it was manly or something.. it was a mark of how manly and sharp you are.. in Indian subcontinent it is still like this only..
