I’ve been waiting 17 weeks for my NY teacher’s certification. That’s 119 days or over 4 months. I got teacher’s certifications in SC and IL in ONE DAY! I have passed all the tests and workshops and fingerprints and payed over $500 for all that. Why is the wait so long if we’ve PAID for someone to do this job. Can we email someone governor of education or anyone in charge to let them know about this broken system? Also I tried calling Albany’s number listed here and nobody is answering.

Hello, I was looking forward to becoming a public school teacher but came to know that i had to get a masters degree in education for that and numerous other certifications that i don’t possess at the moment. I have a foreign bachelors degree in languages and now think it would be better for me to try for a private school. Their requirements are 3 credit in ESOL teaching methods which is a certificate but I thought that private schools don’t require certification... also may i know would i be needed to get my degree accredited?

I have my Initial teaching certification but I am at the step of "Application Under Review." The next step is: "Application in New Teacher Finder." What is the purpose of "Application in New Teacher Finder?"
@larryramos31913 жыл бұрын
In order to be hired by a potential school, you need to file a “New Teacher Finder” application.

Hello Brooklyn Education Center. I have a question regarding Professional Development. The Teach website claims you can log PD hours in on their website after you log in. Can you please explain how? I searched every tab and I cannot find a place where I can log in my last years PD hours. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

hello so I have a Bachelors in Sociology. I am a sub with charter schools in NYC. Cannot do Public schools since I do not have a masters. I met a teacher who has been in system for over 10 years and said she still has two more exams to take to become certificated. I am asking other teachers and programs said you need a masters before taking exam. However, this teacher told me she took the exam before having a masters and her Bahcelors was in English.

Again this is why I always tell people to APPLY for the Certification. They will tell you what you need to do but they can only give you the right advice once they see your transcripts. I'm pretty sure you can make up the Education requirements in the Master's Degree. But again ONLY TRUST WHAT ALBANY TELLS YOU . And the only way they can actually give you advice is if you apply for certification and they analyze your transcripts.

Has anyone heard of CITE Concordia in downtown brooklyn? It is supposedly a grad school to get your masters and certification but I cannot find any research on them and I am skeptical. If anyone knows, would appreciate some info :)
@Kyubey123454 жыл бұрын
A grad school can only recommend you for certification. They cannot certify you. Only NY State can give you your certification, or teaching license.

This is a bureaucratic nightmare. There is no reason at all for this to be that complicated, it's easier to teach at a community college for Pete's sake!

Have a Masters Degree in Teaching. I am applying to become a teacher in NYC. My UNDERGRAD GPA is below 2.5. What can I do?
@BrooklynEducationCenter6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that. This is why I tell people to APPLY for Certification. It's only $50 and instead of getting "advice" from well intentioned people, you'll get a straight answer.

@@BrooklynEducationCenter I found this at TEACH account. An applicant's grade point average (GPA) is a numeric measurement of academic performance based on a maximum score of 4.0 (letter grade of "A") and reported on the transcript of the college that issued the degree. A minimum GPA of 2.50 is required for an individual to be eligible for an entry-level teaching certificate through the individual evaluation pathway

I have seen ads that said Bachelors and certificate required and masters is optional in NYC. I know an educator who took the exam with just a Bachelors. However, I been looking to see how I can go about take the exam with just my Bachelors and no luck yet.
