This is beautiful work particularly the scene where Kaima was given a torchlight by her mum I cried bcos that was my story growing up I hawked plantain chips during the day and burnt my candle by night I swore to myself to be successful and give my unborn children a better life than I had ,today am a registered nurse in the uk it was not easy getting here but with determination and God on my side I made it. As an Art and Humanities educator, I strongly recommend students watch and pay attention to the delivery of Kaima in the debate scene; how she started from where the first speaker stopped off at, how she presented convincing counter-attack points, while intelligently navigating through the content (body) of the argument, and resultantly rounding off her points, yet with the metaphoric banger - "True leadership is action, not position. This is really really amazing. From @Bimbo talking to Victory about being careless to following her to her mum to Ifiok having to take responsibility to Victory and Ifiok preparing for their exam, how @Bimbo believed in her students, Smart speaking English fluently.... the list goes on. At the top of it is Kiama's resilience and her mum changing her candle to a lamp, I mean Kaima would have opted out of being a serious student because she had a genuine excuse, but she had chosen success and that was her guiding light. This movie resonates with me. I was a teacher after my secondary school days in a family friends private school because there was a teacher in my school then that made me love teaching, she was so involved in our lives and it helped a lot of us. After my university days I was posted to a school for my Nysc and it was amazing. I loved how the kids were able to relate to me and with me. Bimbo is just an exceptional actress. Teachers are precious They deserve to be treated well and given much respect like any other profession If the way we see and regard teachers change in this country, there will be quite a lot of encouragement for teachers to put in their best in grooming their students. We have seen teaching as a side hustle or a narrow escape just to have something doing But no, a teacher must be compassionate and be smart in dealing with their students I am happy my husband is a teacher, and not just any type but the example of a kind of teacher Dorcas is in this movie Thank you to those involved in producing this wonderful film... this was a beautiful watch. i loved that the costume from the clothings, shoes, car and home interior was very consistent to a teacher even at the end she had just a simple wedding band and not a rock. made it very very realistic.

People say oh I love this movie w/o reservation giving no context as to why so the reason I love "TD" so much is simply bc all the characters are beyond robust and relatable. “Teacher Dorcas” is like the modern female version of the classic film “To Sir with Love” played by the late Academy award winner Mr. Sidney Poitier. Ejiro's character was so funny, feisty and lovable, Agwu was a likable ring leader, Victory was the beautiful young lady that all parents pray their daughters won't end up in the same predicament she was and Kaima was so brilliant with a world of potential that needed support in order to live up to her fullest potential. I like how TD depended on Efiok. I was the Efiok of my class😊They all resonated bc in reality we all know any one of these characters. Teacher Dorcas was serious, stern, and built a solid, deep, relationship with her students from the beginning being sober, unyielding yet: kind, caring, genuinely interested, and tapped into the particulars about their lives and who they were as individuals. Dorcas wanted to be different than the others and to make a difference by having an impact on their lives by teaching the whole person. She won their hearts and they wanted to impress and not disappoint her. They all gained a desire to be better versions of themselves. Good teachers can make such a difference. I appreciate how Bimbo brought such light, dignity, reverence and esteem to the role of Teacher Dorcas being an example for children who might otherwise have been written off and discarded. Daddy was a delight, loved their relationship. Sir Chris was amazing as principal. To teach is to learn twice. What the teacher is ; is as important as what they teach. A teacher affects eternity; he or she can never tell where his influence stops. Thank u for this story A+ 🍎
