I really enjoy the cawfee talk :-) There were a lot of interesting points mentioning, one was about intuition.... I’m not sure how intuitive they are yet I do think they are overly sensitive and they sense and feel our emotions more than we know, it’s almost like they know us better than we know ourselves. How both of you are so excited about your sons future I think that’s absolutely amazing and I believe that’s what keeps us going each and every day. Looking forward to the next cawfee tawk ☕️

I think a great way of looking at it is that intuition is a gift of Nicky’s brand of autism. Joy is a gift of my Little’s brand of autism. Each person has their own brand; each brand has their own gift. It’s no different, really than anyone else. God gives everyone their own gifts.

My boy is very perceptive to moods, but he is not empathetic. He really is frustrated when we are. He is very happy when we are. However, he doesn’t know how to respond when we are sad. I think it is because he is not sure why we are sad. And I SOOOO identify with the capping your moods. It is very difficult! But he is so over the top with the little things that bring him joy. That makes it all worth it.

I agree that this channel can be a venue for God to use Nickys talents and your family’s talents to help others. This is an awesome Cawfee 😁 ( SC here) talk. Love this kind of video. I have 5 beautiful children all very special that contribute to Gods calling each in their own way. I love them to pieces. Now I have 5 grands and an older teen that I’ve always felt is on the autism spectrum. Learning from you guys about Nicky and his everyday life is a blessing. That is from God. Because of you guys I’ve been able to communicate with my grand in a better way. See God does work in wonderful ways.

Is Shannon a hospice nurse? I think I remember hearing that in one Episode...maybe not. Anyway, I ask because my husband is a hospice chaplain. He is also an Army Reserve Chaplain. Hospice nurses are terrific! All nurses are terrific...my mom and sister are nurses👩‍⚕️. Thanks for all the great videos.

Love this series..and the cooking, just love it all. My biggest regret is also not having more children, I only had my one. Firstly, I really like the different videos that you guys are putting out now. The cooking, the coffee talks, it's really nice to see variety. And I think it's very interesting that Nick picks up on emotions so much and it's more the reaction cause I'm definitely like that even now as a high functioning adult. Heaven forbid I ever get put near someone sad cause I go like a deer in the headlights. It's like that bit of the manual book is missing. Person is sad, don't want that, solution is ??. I honestly don’t like the term “autism.” The way it was described to me was that it’s a label that doesn’t fully describe my son’s potential but will allow us to get him special help. It all started with a communication delay but somehow the assumption that he was somehow mentally retarded (I hate the “R” word even more By the way) was added on by assumption. That was never my assumption and I celebrate each surprise whether the be pleasant or not. I’ve wrestled with professionals to focus on his behavior in order to determine their motivations. It all comes back to communication. Our kids communicate differently but are not incapable of it. As an example, consider how we would look upon Stephen Hawking if he’d never been able to speak and had never become literate? I’m not saying all autistic people are brilliant but nor are they stupid. That’s why we have an autism awareness month every April IMO.

Hi Neil. Great points. If you imagine for a moment that you didn't have your voice would you still be the same person? The way we communicate is so much a part of who we are. Great point about Stephen Hawkins. So much is assumed by the outside world when they hear the word autism. I believe in my heart that we're going in the right direction as a societee.
