One time the fire alarm went off, and my teacher was confused saying “I didn’t get an email about a drill” and literally took the time to check her email to see if she missed it before having us leave lmao. Turns out someone had called the office anonymously and said they found a bomb on campus 🤷‍♀️

That’s not safe anymore. The best practice is a hold and go in case an intruder pulled the alarm to get people in the hallway. The teacher should always check the hall before releasing anyone.

Man, I’m high school you don’t care if it’s a drill or not. We’re so tired that it’s the mentality of, “maybe I can sleep for a good thirty minutes.” Teachers have the same minds for the most part.

My old school always ignored the fire alarms. Once there was an actual fire in the trashcan. Luckily, I've moved schools now. The teachers don't usually even say anything when the alarm goes off. We don't know if it's a drill or not. We don't go single-file and they won't yell at you if you grab something. Everyone walks on their own without being yelled at which is nice, and while there'd talking there's never screaming. The teachers will close their doors behind them and we'll all stay in the yard until the alarm stops and we all go back inside. It actually isn't very anxiety-inducing for me (past my own occasional overthinking) and I get severe panic attacks. It's kind of nice that they don't yell at us lol

Ok ok this thing reminds me of the time I had a panic attack during a fire drill. We were in choir (which I love the teacher there she is so caring I swear) and the fire alarm went off. I can’t do loud or repetitive noise tho. So we start to get up and I started to have a panic attack. Lmao I just remembered when I was just diagnosed with ADHD in ~2nd-3rd grade and I kept switching prescriptions because I was constantly suffering side effects (dizziness and tiredness) and one day, my teacher let me sleep in the special ed class and the teachers there were fine with it. I laid there for a bit mostly for an internal reset and the fire alarm went off, the teachers took all of the students and left me in the classroom. When I came out, one of the teachers said she “forgot” about me. The carpet I was sleeping on was right next to the table and desk they worked at, how do you forget a child there?

I thought it was so cool that I was part of an actual fire in my elementary school. Our classroom was the only classroom that could smell it and had smoke in the room. There were online kids, since it was Covid. My teacher heard the fire alarm and we were all like, “oh my gosh I smell smoke!” We were all super freaked out. My friend sweatshirt was tied around a chair leg, and I told her, “get the sweater!!!” She said, “leave the sweater!” Are you kidding me? And then I scooped all of my important stuff in my desk into my backpack, and left!!! I have a breathing thing, too, so it was hard for me. Best school day ever!!!

When I was a young person, we experienced a real fire. Everyone was alright but one of the teachers burned their house keys. No one had a phone with them, so nobody was able to call the fire department but luckily for us a fire truck was driving by and was like “Huh, a school is on fire. Lucky kids.” The school was closed for a week and since my parents were people who worked while at school (my mom was a teacher at another school) they asked the high school if my oldest brother was able to miss school for a week so I could have someone look after me. Looking back on it I don’t understand why I wasn’t just plopped off at my friends house but hey, at least my brother got to miss school

Unfortunately the school did not burn down, it was a faulty sensor. We didn’t get to go home early- wanna know what else sucks? The sensor went off while we were playing GAMES in English. Whatever. One of my friends almost died because we were walking so slow during an actual fire. He still has the burn marks. (it was a grease fire)

This is so true like a month ago someone in my school pulled the fire alarm mid class and then I was in math and I grabbed my freaking $60 water bottle and my bus tag because I’ll get suspended off my bus if I don’t go with my bus tag and I ran straight to the door. I was like I’m not done today

Even for a drill they would take the class pet outside at my school. After all drills are for practice. If there's a real fire someone might forget it if they didn't practice it.

I remember our teachers would always not let us bring our bags when it was a drill, and we had to go back to the classroom

A kid once pulled the fire alarm on purpose and said they didn’t do it. They got suspended for 3 days. The bad part was it was in elementary school. But when it went off, we didn’t panic, we were vibing to it.😭

This year (I'm in 9th grade) I had an Arabic teacher and all of the students hated her! So one day at the last hour of school we had Arabic with her and the students drove her crazy but then we heard the fire drill and we all went outside of the class but then she said it's just the fire drill and we should stay in class and learn even though all the other classes already left the building! Right now I don't have her as my Arabic teacher because she is pregnant and we got a nice teacher that I really like but this teacher will be back in April.

My friend and I made a joke because the teacher wouldn’t let us talk, so we said, “Don’t talk or the fire is gonna go in your mouth!!1!1!1!!1!11”

We were doing a lockdown drill about 2 months ago, i was in open minds and everyone hated the teacher we had. Anyway, during the drill, my teacher realised she forgot to close the windows and blinds (its procedure in my school) so she did parkour over the tables and chairs 😂😭 was the funniest thing I've seen a teacher do 😂😂
