Finding someone to speak to you in English is really tough. Especially, in a non-English speaking country and they just laugh about it, which is discouraging for most of us. But, I mostly talked with my buddies in video games and most of them are either from the US, the UK, or Australia. So, it really helped me master all three accents now, I can both talk and understand without any issues. And, mam's video really helped me a lot to get out of that awkward phase and here I am. Thx to you for those tips.

Thanks, Vanessa! The methods (which you call tricks) are very useful. I would mention one more 'trick', if you allow. It is well-known and widely used by teachers and learners, and it consists in using a transcript when listening to a monologue or a conversation in dialectal or fast-spoken foreign language. One has to shift in the following order: 1) listening with the transcript - 2) listening without the transcript - 3) controlling yourself ("how much I understand without the paper") - 4) listening with - 5) listening without - 6) making a substantial pause in order to "forget" the stuff - 7) repeating the whole cycle. It works! Of course there are some "smaller tricks", too. One is the following: reading classics, such as Steinbeck and O. Henry (for American English) or Kipling and Shaw for British English. Every time you meet a phrase like "You should of done" (instead of "You should have done"), you learn something practical about spoken English. Finally, it is sometimes helpful to collect and learn language jokes. Here is an example: - My wife has gone to the Carribean. - Jamaica? - No, she wanted herself. A non-native user of English who has learned this joke, is likely to recognize the question "Did you make her?" in a conversation with a native speaker.

This is the beauty of English. We try to communicate with the least amount of morphemes, possible. Unlike other languages which use declension, gender, conjugation; English is much simpler. Morphemes are generally syllables. So sometimes morphemes or part of the morpheme are not even pronounced. So this concept, plus contractions and the ancient patterns of spelling makes English difficult. Learning the history of the English language; how it's made from German, French, Latin, Greek languages, you'll understand why English words are so varied and why the spelling and pronunciation is so weird 😕. Have a wonderful day my friends. And thank you, Vanessa. You are an exceptional teacher, par excellence!
