getting them to urinate and poop before they are weaned is important. always stroke with a cotton piece or tissue the privates so they pee and poop. so important. you can also use a slurry of milk and food mix so they get enough liquid. many cats die from well meaning first time ppl that have no idea how to care for a baby kitten. glad to see there are videos to help out. i have two fosters at the moment. they are just 3 weeks. still no teeth but looking at things and playing a bit. i will be weaning later about two weeks, slowly but let them go at their own pace.

@@S1baar probably a free kitten or a stray that they found. It's not that hard because people tend to not spay/neuter their cats for some reason. Or they let their cats wander outside unsupervised. That's how I got a free six week old kitten from someone that found them on the road.

Make some bone broth, cook it a few hours till it gets a silky texturen. Mix it with an egg. Stir in supplements if needet. Serve warm. My cat wasn't motherless, but she is an extremely picky eater and that was one of the things she didn't refuse to eat. And finely diced cooked and raw meats with that broth.

Help! I picked up a baby yesterday from a lady who said they were ready and didn't realize the baby has to only be 4-5 weeks old max. I've tried wet kitten kibble, kitten wet food, and even chicken baby food and she will not eat! I'm syringe feeding her kmr but this baby needs to eat solids...quick. I'm just so stressed she will get sick if I don't get her eating. She's active, healthy, good weight. Just has no interest in solids. Tips?

Hi Samantha. Sometimes they will only eat straight off your`e finger when they are that small but they will start to eat as they get hungry. Some take to it easier than others. Good luck with her.

I know it's probably too late but you could make slurry for her. Its basically just kitten formula mixed with wet kitten food. They mostly really enjoy this. As time goes on you can add more and more wet cat food until they're perfectly comfortable eating just the wet kitten food. Then you can start adding some dry cat food into the wet to make sure they won't get diarrhea. Hope it helped, bye!

@@spicyboi4335 It can be hard sometimes for them to make the switch, from milk, to solids. If you make it fairly wet you have a better chance of them eating it, you could try syringe feeding it, so it gets the taste of it, then try it off your finger.

I had 3 I took in at 3 to 4 weeks or so, they rejected syringes adamantly and really only liked the bottle for quite some time, they would constantly spill anything in a bowl and didnt like hard/soft food for awhile. They were all about the nipple. Now theyre 3 months or so and 2 have adapted well, and one is constantly trying to suck on my toes. Bottle syndrome

My kittens are 6 weeks and two days. I have been bottle feeding them since they were two weeks exactly. They refuse to eat solid food and insist on the bottle, going long after they are hungry without eating if I don’t give them a bottle. Luckily it is a blended slurry of milk and meat so they are staying healthy but I WANT THEM TO WEAN! I’ve tried all the tricks from Hannah Shaw (Kitten Lady) to frick and frack who have an opinion on the subject but nothing works 😩 it cost me a $3k all expense paid vaca (that I desperately need) because no one would foster them for a week if not weaned. I have no idea what it’s going to take.

Omg, I just rescued a badly injured 3.5 week kitten abandoned by her mother. She had a large botfly as well and I thought she had no chance of living. But I nursed her to good health. Only to have her killed in an accident at 7 weeks. The first night I had her after watching her mother dump her I'm my monkey grass and run off. I feed very fine tuna broken up tuna in with a lot of the water in the can. Then I washed the cat that very very bad cuts and scratches under neck. She was covered in dried blood and I put bactine on her. The next day I feed kitty some ripe smashed banana that she wouldn't eat til I poured tuna water over it. She looked better but pitiful. Put bactine on her wounds again. The third day she was coved in infection and lost a lot of fur and I took her to the vet. The girl at the vets counter said they were booked up, but all the vet could do would be to treat her with an antibiotic. She told me to come back in week , to wash her with peroxide and give her the antibiotics. I feed her salmon and tuna water. Plus I made her food out cooked chicken livers, peas , carrots and oatmeal pureed with lots of water because her teeth were barely there. She got much better. Then two days later, the cuts and scratches had heeled. But she had a warble and when I washed her with peroxide you could see the air to bubbles from a botfly and the Flys little yellow head poking out. I took her to a different vet. Immediately she removed the botfly and said it would take 3 weeks for her wounds to heal. The kitty was better Immediately, three days later she had double her size. Was playful and running fast. By the end of the week her fur was growing back and the scratches and cuts and the warble from the fly has healed. She became the most playful and loving kitty ever. But the she ran under a visitors feet on the stairway and got killed. I am grieving that kitten more than the death of another pet I have ever had and I have had dozens of pets.

Check out the "kitten lady" videos on KZbin as well. She shows how to bottle feed and tell how old they are. I have a few videos that show other ages too. If they have teeth you can feed canned cat food. And use kitten formula or raw goat's milk to feed if they don't have teeth. Cow's milk and eggs aren't good for them. First make sure they're warm and then feed only kitten replacement formula or raw goat's milk. You can get it from a pet store or Walmart if you're in the us. Kitten lady videos will show how to bottle or syringe feed. Of they're young enough to not have teeth they need their bums rubbed to make them pee and poop because they can't go on their own. The mom licks them to make them go. Good luck!

Yes as a general rule if they're old enough to have teeth they're usually old enough to go potty by themselves. But if you aren't sure it never hurts to try to help a 4 week old potty for the first time just in case. 5 week olds for sure can.

I have a 5 week old kitten and what I do to be sure he doesn't get dehydrated is to add water to his PAT"E cat food until he learns to drink on his own.. This method works well to insure NO DEHYDRATION occurs,because kittens this young are vulnerable to be Dehydrated and it could also be DEADLY to him.
