Elina, Thank you for your very informative video. I used to teach English as a Second Language at the Refugee and Resettlement through Catholic Social Services when I was a young man. (1983 to 1988) Many of my students were from Southeast Asia. All of my students were adults. I did not make a lot of money. But it was a job that I loved. During my time teaching there. I learned about cultures from all over the world. I am a pensioner now. But teaching ESL was one of the blessing God put in my life. I admire how you embrace life to the fullest. You should consider writing a book. Considering all what you have done at your age. I think it would sell very well. I would definitely buy a copy. You could add author to your list of accomplishments.

In Beijing, mother tongue French teacher salary is usually 2400 Euro, couldn't be much more and couldn't be much less(and I assume English counterpart is similar), and usually dormitory provided for free. Down side, usually the dormitory-provied type of school requires a relatively long term contract, 6 months at least. And many foreigners don't like to be bound by long term contract. Second, those international schools are usually very far away from city center, for massive scale cities like many in China, that is a big problem if you want to get more involved with downtown convenience and prosperity. Third, work visa is also bound with a position/company usually, you cannot switch company easily. So you can pay an amount of tuition for a language program in a University with a student visa and actually teach off the school, to bypass the visa problem, and to be totally free.

Elina was right but it has changed a lot. Native speakers are now finding it hard to find teaching jobs. The government had a clamp down. My work permit application was rejected with a Cert and Diploma in TEFL and a related masters. I have been teaching since 1994 , yet it seems they want us all out. I am looking for work in the Caucaus region now.

As a Vietnamese myself, I can certain 1000$ to 2000$ for 100 hours per month is not that bad at all. Meanwhile taxes laws in Vietnam quite lax, you will pay very little or no tax if you circumvent the law (legally ways and it's not good) --> some Vietnamese people call it ("Legal tax relief " if you understand the law very deep, and know where, how, what the holes are) Good works, great blogger 🥰

How is everyone dealing with the high U.S.A. income taxes that us citizens still have to pay overseas? Federal (37%) + North Dakota State (5%) + Social Security and Medicare(15.3%)= 57.3%. I graduate next December. Are they using some type of foreign income tax exclusion loophole?

Interesting Elina. I have watched all your latest videos and now when I started with your first videos (like this one) I can clearly see that at this point your English accent was quite normal, whereas nowadays you seem to have regressed more to Russian - away from proper English pronunciation. So is it necessary to state that it is not worth listening to the Russian language too much if you have gotten rid of it once? BUT: You are still beautiful and charming Bright Light!

Eli, most South Vietnameses don't like "communist" that much because Communism made their life much more miserable in term of freedom, humiliation and slavery. Saigon used to have a lot of US influences in the past and present and most of Vietnamese (north and south) pro American. Mentioning the name "Ho Chi Minh" to South Vietnamese is an an insult to some of them sometime but if you are a foreigner then it's okay. You can mentioned "Ho Chi Minh" to Northerners it's okay because most of them related to communism past I come from the US and I am Vietnamese American. I used to visit Russia few times, I love Russian people a lot. If Vietnam has freedom, I wish more Russians come and settle in Vietnam in the future Good luck to you
