Considering there are people on KZbin with MILLIONS of subscribers, who play a recorder with their nose while wearing a frog hat, I’ve gotta say it’s nice to see people who are 🎶recorder geniuses🎵 Also, kudos for exposing kids to music. This is the age where they are the absolute most likely to pick up things. See my most recently uploaded video to see my 2-year-old use a bass-slap technique that he was simply mimicking, after seeing it performed. Great job, gang!

We shouldn't forget that Jon is a highly accomplished reed player. It might be a fairer exchange if he challenged Sarah to play contemporary saxophone music with its extended technique, either on the saxophone (exact comparison) or the modern recorder. To my ear, composers for both instruments share a fondness for microtones.

Sounds to me like you’ve got a great ear for music. As a metal drummer, communicating with the band member who wrote a piece is important because we don’t know how they hear it in their head until they demonstrate the feel of the piece. When a chamber group sits down with their sheet music, they have a director to make sure everyone is interpreting the sheet music the way that is expected. ^_^

Contemporary Recorder = Musical Alchemy -- in an incredibly pure form, especially as pertains to a particular Calculus of Spherical Harmony transcended. At the end of the calcined score is the potential for an elemental recombination into a refined form. This is music for wondrous reflection and display!
