Teaching to count syllables is a great tool, but the haiku aesthetic is mostly about seasons and comparing/contrasting/associating between two things. You are a great teacher, though. You made poetry fun for your students.

技術的には、音節数の規則は日本語で書かれた俳句にのみ適用されます。翻訳では、短いパターン ロングショートがより一般的です。また、俳句は季節について言及またはほのめかす必要があります。 Technically, the syllable count rule only applies to haiku written in Japanese. In translation, a pattern of short-long-short is more typical. Also, haiku should mention or allude to a season.

@@3P1C_G4M3R5 I am not sure but my haiku sounds more Haiku. Probably, "N" sound needs to be counted as syllable. For instance, sun is 2 syllables. I know this sounds stupid but as Japanese myself, I sometimes feel strange when I hear English version....
