Yep very true! I made that mistake.. Spoke French to my kid and freaked out when at 3 I was told he had speech delay. So I spoke English after that.. yes his speech caught up so fast but he's now 9 and doesn't speak French.. But we're working on it and I have hope he will catch up again and be bilingual.

When Monaco turns 2 her speech, talk, words will explode! My 2 year old toddler is speaking sentences and fully expressive, knows exactly what he wants. His personality is coming out even more. My 2 year old toddler is now able to say what he wants to wear, etc. he’s growing up so fast. Please do the baby sign language now. There are KZbin videos. We started my son with baby sign language at 6 months.

Awww my gosh!! I could NOT stop smiling the entire time!! Coco is the best!! 🥰🥰 I actually took some notes, as I’m experiencing this same stage right now with my nephew who’s almost 10mths. Before I bought flash cards and a sight & sound book, I was using his toys and objects around the house to make up songs that included the colors and the name of the object. Monaco knew she was signing milk! That was perfect! She is going to get it. We have been signing with our son since he was 3 months. He is 20 months now and he RARELY uses ANY SIGNS WE TAUGHT HIM. We continue to sign and add new words because we want to keep trying. I just know one day he is going to catch it.

Every child is different. As long as parent and child can find a way to communicate, that’s all that matters. He’ll catch on to something eventually. Not all kids want to speak or sign right away. I once babysat a 2 year old who barely spoke. She just pointed to the objects she wanted or needed. Another 2 year old could speak full sentences. Well, toddler version with 3 word sentences.

Jeannie you are really doing such an amazing job being and incredible mother. I wish I did sign language with my boys early early on. Both of them have autism and I noticed really early their speech delays. With my first the doctors and family kept saying "oh it will come , he's just taking his time" and I wish I would've acted on speech therapy sooner. With my second I tried not to make the same mistakes. They are 8 and 4 and they still don't really speak so sign language is a major tool for their communication. With my next child I'm definitely starting them off from birth. Seeing your daughter effectively communicate milk with her hand gave me so much joy and hope. Thank you for using your platform to help teach others at the same time as you. I feel as a parent there is never enough information you can learn and I really appreciate it. 💚

I am bilingual and am also speaking to our daughter in Spanish. What we do is the one person, one language method. So, regardless if I am in public with non Spanish speaking folks, I speak to her in Spanish and translate to the non Spanish speaker. I also translate what my daughter says. Now that she is in daycare, she has picked up English, which she will continue to do. It's been hard to find good Spanish books, but I still read to her by translating the books to Spanish. I have a lot of bilingual friends who say it's hard but honestly, it's keeping consistent. We think kids get confused but they don't! They are so smart and will surprise you just like your little one did. Best of luck and God bless.

My last child has developmental delays including speech delay. It was detected at her one year visit, when they asked how many words she knew. It's been a long road and same with potty training. Never give up they will eventually get there.

I love Dr. Cindie so much!!!!! And I am grateful that she talked about the proper way to speak to children. I genuinely HATE IT when people speak "baby talk" to their young kids. You speak to them the way you want them to speak so if you want your kids to have terrible diction and nonsensical language, then Sure, keep doing that baby talk. 🙄 Hold actual conversations with your baby. Pause to see if they have anything to contribute. Watch their body language because they often will respond in such a way that you get what they mean. React to that. High Five them when you agree with what they "said." Thank you so much, Jeannie!!! Your videos are truly doing God's word with the information, love and light you share! 🤗🥰🤗
