Oh my god LOL the struggle in training shih tzus. I'm so glad to see this video and people's comments! Mine is about 1 1/2 and we still haven't mastered sit. But she picked up potty training pretty well. 🤷‍♀️

I never used food/treats to train my Shih Tzu. Hand jesters and a frim commanding voice was all it took. No, you don't have to yell or threaten your dog to get them to follow commands. I established myself as pack leader and she fell in line. I had her for 11 years and people were always amazed by how well behaved she was when around other people or when they came to our home. These dogs are by far one of the best companion dogs, if that's what you're looking for.

I love shih tzus. I've had three. My Doogie died at 14 -1/2yrs. my Sophie died at 16-11/2yrs and my Benjamin died at 14. I want another one so bad, but my husband says he can't go through losing another one. I am so lonely for one. I'd love a 3 year old that is house trained. They are wonderful dogs, I loved my babies so much. Princeton is adorable.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Mine died 10 days ago at the age of 5. And the one before died at the same age. They were shih poos and that is why I’m thinking about getting a shih Tzu. And reading you comments that they lived more years than mine, just give me hope.

Mine is a year old and she knows some stuff.. I didn’t really work on training her but I guess she kinda learned it over time of us saying it.. When we say “outside” she darts to the door When we say “treat” she goes and wakes up our elderly dog then brings them to the kitchen When I say “box” she goes to her kennel If I say “teddy” (my elderly shih tzu he is 12) she goes to him And when I say “door” she goes to the balcony door She also comes and eats when I say “foood”

@@CharliesVlogs1 Isn't that crazy? Really like your dog a lot. Sure is smart as a whip. Mine was a beauty pageant dog, pretty as can be but dumb as a brick! LOL She passed two years ago and I've just gotten to the point that I want another. My heart was broken.

im not a professional but my experience with my dog I continued to give hime treats and the more you do it the more he will know he has to do it because of the treat slowly give him smaller and smaller pieces till its gone, but be precistent.

We are grieving the loss of our 5 year old Shihpoo Tesla. She died 10 days ago. And 5 years ago we lost our first Shihpoo, Nala, same age :( I think the problem is the breeder/mixed breeding. So much more years to live... Im reading the comments about all your pure breed Shih Tzus. I love them. I want one but now my family and I are too afraid of loosing another one.

im sorry for your loss. But yes I think if your ready for a new dog let it be a pure breed dog, unfortunately my died like 4 months ago its hard but we must be happy because everything happens for a reason.

Lol. I had a shihtzu for 14 yrs and she always took treats like a savage. Lol. I just got my new puppy he’s only 2 moths old. And I’m tryn to potty train him.

I have one who just three months old. Still gotta potty train him, how does one do it? He pees everywhere 😂 like he'd just stand like a statue and move with a puddle under him lol

@stonedNoob honestly just repetition, When you give him water or food wait like 5-6 minutes and then take him out to the back yard don’t just leave a bowl of food for him to eat it’s by measurement and 2 times a day and water can stay outside but if you hear him drink wait like 5 min then take him out.

No he took his puppy classes at petco I was just playing with him but he is a smart puppy. But recommend you doing those puppy classes they helped that is the only training my dog did and it worked.
