Wow, I'm late to the party, but this is very impressive. You're really pushing the boundaries of Org mode! Thanks for sharing.

Wow! Also late to the party, but this is truly awesome! You've created your own online classroom and admin tool and just from what I've seen here it is arguably better than something like eClass or Blackboard. Very well done and very impressive!

John, are you still using techela (Spring 2019)? Curious. Also, this is great. Gitolite has been really solid for me too for years now, but you have taken it up to the next level (maybe several levels) with your front end here. *hattip*

Thanks! I am not using right now, because I am teaching an undergraduate lab with someone. Over the last year I morphed it to use Python Flask, jupyter notebooks, and Box.com, but I miss using gitolite a lot. It would be great to use Flask as a front end for gitolite instead. Maybe this summer I will make that happen in preparation for a class I am teaching this fall.

Are students expected to have Emacs knowledge before taking the course? The mechanics of this are very compelling, but how do the dynamics in class actually play out?
@JohnKitchin10 жыл бұрын
none of them know Emacs before the class. they start out using it a lot like a browser with one command that opens the course, and they click on links and menus from there. I use like this video and they pick it up as they go.

Very nice video! I love seeing emacs used in presentations and classes. How are you doing the in-line image generation?

Tory S. Anderson it is vanilla capability of org-mode.

I was stunned by this too. Finally, I found that this functionality is inbuilt in org-mode. You can read about it here: orgmode.org/manual/Previewing-LaTeX-fragments.html#Previewing-LaTeX-fragments

I've always known that for using org-mode you must be alchemist or wizard :)
