yes. after we stop we immediately make our horses back a few steps. this helps the horse really bring his backend under himself. our horses also have sliders on the back. its a special shoe that is wider and hangs out about 1/2 inch hehind the heel. also, and arena with a good smooth clay foundation with sand on top helps give our horses a good surface to slide on. dont try out in the pasture

It's supposed to be.... if the ground is hard and you try to spin or do a sliding stop, your horse is going to get hurt.

That horse really have a hard time breathing.. :(
