Thank you for featuring my cable clips, Michael! I was perplexed by yesterday’s download numbers and just saw a comment from the user goTVm over at Printables, who mentioned you'd posted this video. Let me point out that not only KLAMMA, but KLIPPT as well is “tape-compatible” with the other base plate (At least in light-duty applications.) This makes once printed clips even more versatile because you can interchange them easily.
@WidgetsInc Жыл бұрын
Same here! I was wondering why there was a spike in views and downloads. Thanks for featuring the Diffusion Panels. That timelapse looked amazing! These were modeled so that the deepest point on the front would touch the back panel in vase mode, making it more rigid and stay flat, assuming a .4mm nozzle and .3mm layer height. I am curious what slicer settings could be tweaked to make that happen on his and other printers.

i can confirm the broom holders are great. the design is very creep resistant (the biggest problem with load bearing 3d prints) and the 10 or so that i have printed are still working after more than a year. they also work just fine when all parts are printed at 80% scale. i use rubber bands for grip and dont mind having to replace them every few months or so when they inevitably degrade and crumble.

3:09 While the reflection looks good, making the surface fuzzy (in Cura, fuzzy skin) would probably make it more effective. This will mimic the porous aspect of foam panels. You'll also want to print it with a couple of walls to make absorption better and stability for the fuzz.
@Sembazuru11 ай бұрын
I've never used fuzzy skin on vase mode. What do you know. I just fired up PSv2.7.1, loaded a built-in cylinder, turned on vase mode and then fuzzy skin. It sliced w/o problem. How well does it print, I wonder.
@zecuse11 ай бұрын
@@Sembazuru I haven't ever used fuzzy skin and only used vase mode once for flow tuning (from Teaching Tech's calibration video and website). I suspect a fuzzy vase will be really sketchy to print with all that shaking and no wall to support it.

FYI, I am 99% sure that the sound panels won't help at all regarding sound diffusion or absorption. The only thing I would find use for them are for aesthetic use. Plastic isn't a good material for any acoustic purpose. Btw I am a sound engineer so my comment is really to help you out so you don't waste filament and time with these "sound panels" 😅
@jpeero Жыл бұрын
I heard you could recycle with cartons as a sound proof material
@ZomBmusicHQ Жыл бұрын
@@jpeero For sound absorption, you want the sound to travel into the material and then get trapped within it until it looses all of it's energy. So carton isn't a good material in terms of sound absorption. Solid materials only reflect the sound and although carton is somewhat porous, it's mostly solid. If you want to recycle materials, think of anything that's thick and porous, like foam. A mattress does more than any amount of carton you can think of haha. Also, thick rugs or heavy curtains help in terms of sound absorption as well. A good and cheap material for sound treatment is Rockwool, look up "DIY sound absorption panels using Rockwool" and you can see how cheap they are to make. That's my go to budget and effective suggestion.
@coreyward Жыл бұрын
Yeah the author of the model notes it is for "sound diffusion", but I wasn't quite sure what the perceptual impact of that would be so despite it looking cool I didn't bother printing them.
@ZomBmusicHQ Жыл бұрын
@@coreyward sound diffusion is another application within acoustic treatment, and even tho it "looks" like it was designed for that purpose, I'm here to let you all know that the little sound diffusion it would actually achieve wouldn't really matter enough for you to spend the time and money to print them. You would need to print them solid (not in vase mode like it's suggested) and even then I doubt it would do a good job at diffusing. They're pretty, but if you are looking to get any practical acoustic use out of them, you're better off making other DIY diffusers.

I would have the assume the acoustic dampeners don’t actually work, since they aren’t at all porous and just add more smooth surfaces for the sound to bounce from. Maybe because they’re thin they can kind of help but they wouldn’t really work anything like actual acoustic foam or custom made acoustic treatment that you can still make for super cheap. other than that really good designs

I would say that the cable organiser where the cable wraps around then is covered is a fire risk the coil will act as a transformer winding and could melt etc
@glowpipe Жыл бұрын
Don't know if it will be a risk here. Think the cable is too short and loosely coiled. But my last workplace, they used an old welding thread roll to roll the extension cord around. One day one of the workers was making waffles and didn't unwind the cables and they melted and shorted.
@DonsArtnGames Жыл бұрын
The organizer at 7:06 seems like a good idea, but won't the coil create an electromagnet? That could be an issue with anything magnetically sensitive and possibly vampire out some electricity to keep the EM field energized.
@kimmotoivanen Жыл бұрын
No, because when current flows in both directions, magnetic fields cancel each other (in very close range not completely, but in practice well enough). If you separate L and N (or + and -) and coil them in _different_ directions, that would be quite different (better not do that though 🌩) 😉

This is a great video, but I do feel it's worth pointing out those acoustic panels must be printed in something non-flammable like PETG. PLA is highly flammable and flammable acoustic panels have been cited in so many fires as being a significant cause of the severity (The station nightclub fire is a significant, and very tragic, example). Usually it's flammable acoustic foam, but the same would apply here if you don't use the right material.
