I don't know if you'll see this but I have a similar story. I worked as an assistant to a very well loved natural hair stylist and it was my job to wash and prep the client. This black woman had a white fiance that she dogged around. Whenever she came in she had and attitude with him and anyone else she felt like she could step over-as the assistant it was me. She would disrespect me in so many ways but one day she went so far I think she finally embarrassed herself when the room went silent and everyone was looking at her. When her fiance left to get her something to eat she opened up to all of us in the salon: her fiancé's family is racist. So racist that every family dinner and holiday when they go to eat she has to stay in the car outside while he eats with his family. After they all eat and go into the living room or backyard she is "allowed" to go into the dining room and eat what is left over. She has been doing this everytime for a few years. I feel just like you, any woman who is willing to be with a man like that doesn't respect herself and he obviously doesn't respect her either letting his family do that to her.

I have a different perspective on “moving on” from heartbreak. I used to beat myself up over how long it took me to heal and my therapist told me “how long were you invested in that person? So why are you expecting yourself to be over them in a week?” Healing is a process, there’s no time constraint, sometimes it takes a while. Don’t rush it, and be intentional about it, but most importantly don’t give up. Some days you’ll feel like y’all JUST broke up and some days you’ll feel like Beyoncé in her “Sorry” music video. Trust the process.

I couldn’t agree with this more!! I definitely wanted to rush the healing process of my last break up. Looking back I realized that would’ve made me worse off. I learned to embrace the healing and finding the beauty which in turn caused me to love myself more.

True Story! I was engaged to a guy that cheated on me with women we worked with and men that we worked with. I didn’t find out about it until after I caught him red handed at his mama house with another women. Yes I said at his mama house!!! Now he is dating my old supervisor and had a baby with her 😂 ANYWAYS after I went thru all of that I met my now husband and father to our only daughter one month after that. That was ALL GOD!! ❤️

I feel you but don't get tired yet. We gotta keep going. Talk to people if you have to. Honestly yesterday I called a prayer line because sometimes you just don't want to speak to friends or fam and it helped me so much. So much. I feel renewed today. Pray. pick yourself up. Also like Teaira said this has been a long year BUT so many lessons have been learned, whether it be personally, nationally or globally. Keep going.

Breaking up after a 3 year relationship just a few days before the lockdown was a gift from up above. It was so emotionally toxic and avoidant but I was blinded. It was the most painful experience I’ve ever been through, but I’m better off. The pain shows up sometimes when I think of all the things I invested, but it was a lesson! 🌱✨ I’m healing and I’m growing and someday someone might show up and wants to actually grow with me.

@Bree Kashall has to do with core values. If you're in for the long term, you do want to have the same fundamental values. Relationships are hard as they are because it's literally the merging of 2 people who have different upbringings, worldview, opinions and sometimes even cultures and then on top of that, disagree on values that make you who you are? Nah.
@lolaabelove1
@lolaabelove1 4 жыл бұрын
@Bree Kashall for me personally it's because usually the people I know who aren't religious never really want to hear or even let me talk about it and I get that but religion is kind of a big part of my life and if I was someone who wasn't religious or at least believe in God then I wouldn't even be comfortable to speak to them how can I not be comfortable with a person who I'm supposed to be dating or married. And I respect boundaries but I can only make myself uncomfortable for so long to make someone else comfortable.

SOOO many influencers (black and non black) have just been making ambiguous statements and using nondescript phrases like “what’s going on rn” - like shedding NO REAL LIGHT on the racism and white supremacy that is literally claiming black lives DAILY! W/no repercussions. You are a REAL 1 for using ur voice and platform to speak FOR YOUR PEOPLE & to not be so consumed with $ followers likes that u allow urself to be silenced. Hi, Teaira! What a great video, Lil Sis! I LOVED what you said about how people should regard themselves or see themselves when it comes to break-ups especially as it relates to young women and how they're self-esteem is affected by someone breaking up with them or them having to break up with someone due to they're former mate's bad behavior and/or disrespect. Changing the focus is key! Focus on YOURSELF! Say to yourself "I am a Queen! I am the Prize" "This man don't deserve me!" "Don't let nobody take control of YOUR life!...We not doin that over here!" "Always remember, YOU ARE THE PRIZE!" I wish I'd gotten this insight when I was younger. It took some time and eventually I learned! When you realize and learn what you've said here is FACT, those bumps in the road become waaaaay smaller with the healing process becoming way shorter time-wise so yeah...I hope there are young people out there listening and taking heed! I applaud you and those that raised you! You have shown time and time again through your videos that you are a very smart & intuitive young woman!

I was in an 11 year marriage. 3 kids. And my husband had an 1.5 Yr affair with a woman he worked with. This woman knew about me... as she worked 5 minutes from me and I saw her around often. After giving birth to my 3rd child, a mutual friend exposed the affair. I was heart broken, devastated, hurt confused and angry with him, her and myself. It has been a year from the discovery and I have struggled tremendously. I have been depressed most of the year which is extremely abnormal for me. I’ve tried to do things for myself and focused on the positives. All of the things you should do “after a break up”. I work out, I buy things for myself, I get me time, ... all the above. I even bought a house for my kids and I. But here it is ... 1year later and I struggle. I am deeply hurt and DEEPELY saddened. I am so angry with myself for not knowing, for ignoring signs. I was even angry with God for a bit. I wish this felt like a “normal break up” but it does not. I know that he doesn’t deserve me, I know that I am the prize. But there is something truly devastating about a man you love from the top of his head to the sole of his feet secretly choosing another woman. There’s also something so devastating about a woman who knows about me, who knew and saw me carrying my unborn child and went home and secretly had sex with another woman’s husband.... the issue I have is with him but the anger I feel is with everything. This quarantine has help me through this... and honestly seeing young and motivated young women like yourself motivates me. Hell, I am only 30yrs old... and I feel like I deserve more. Just struggling like hell to get past this. It has also brought a lot of my insecurities to the forefront. Stuff that I thought I got over. I am a chocolate woman. Growing up I was always teased about my darkness. And my color became the focus of who I was immediately even with family. They called me “chocolate chip”... which is adorable, but my skin was ALWAYS the focus. Not anything else. It wasn’t until high school that I truly began loving my color. But after this affair, those hidden insecurities arose. The other woman was a lighter skinned woman, fairly beautiful herself. So as of lately, I’ve been struggling to accept my darkness. A problem I assumed I got over... years ago...I struggle so much to feel beautiful even though logically... I know that I am. It’s just a tough battle
