Teal Dot Art Mandala Rock Painting Tutorial

Check out this rock painting tutorial. Purple and Teal and Gold Dot Art Mandala! I had a new glitter I wanted to try so I got to work. I used Guidelines but planned nothing. I'm beginning to practice adding fine lines without drawing them first. Simply straight and short lines are good for practice. It'll take a lot of practice but I think it will be so cool if someday I can just paint on all my fun fine lines without drawing them first. Practice is always key. Let me know if you give this one a try. I'd love to see what you come up with and share it.

@@JaDeLRocks I have yet to attempt to follow one of your tutorials (in reality, I have yet attempted to do any dotting projects)...but I'm definitely drawn to it and want to try! The reason I asked for the time for each project is because I'm disabled and unable to sit for hardly any length of time at all without having to withdraw and go lay down to recover...having an idea of amount of time anticipated to complete a project will me to plan/prepare etc. And due to being on a low disability income, means a slow gathering of supplies...but I'll get there eventually, and will be following your tutelage in hopes of being able to use this art form to take focus off my pain and move it into making such beautiful pieces

@1wascallywabbit Good news… while a project may take 2 hours there is also dry time. So the painting is broken up. Also.. paints are very inexpensive at Walmart. Maybe like .60¢ and up per bottle. But, I'm almost there supply wise...I've gotten the "big items" (a HDC mold & tools...still need to get some P.O.P. or UltraCal 30) I just need some of other smaller things... like going to the thrift store to get LP's and/or Dollar Tree for canvas boards, and would like to obtain a few additional color options as far as paint goes...Soooo, I'm almost there, and will be ready to start shortly

Thank you Lynda. I always tell at the beginning if it was planned or not. This one wasn’t. I love using my Mandala Brainstorms to plan things out and test ideas. Sometimes,.. I just like to cross my fingers and see what I get. It’s always a surprise. I hope you have a wonderful Easter 🐣♥️♥️♥️

I don’t pour them back because sometimes I mix thinners and sometimes they sit out. Long story short.. the consistency changes once it leaves the bottle for a length of time. I want to know what I’m starting with each time. When I have leftovers I paint small rocks, kindness rocks, or thank you rocks. Sometimes it dries out and I just pluck it from the tray and toss it.

It’s beautiful as always! What’s the difference between using slow-dri and the flow aid/water mixture?

I’m the video I put why I added it each time. Flow aid, for me, is more of a thinner that allows the paint to “flow” easier and spread smoothly… I love it! The Slow Dri… does just that. It makes the paint take longer to dry so I started using it on all of my light colors to prevent cracking and I use it during the winter when I lose my high humidity.

@user-ii6yb8db4o so far it’s working. I think because I live in Arkansas with high humidity that I don’t have cracking often. I switched to electric heat this winter, though, and quickly figured out what everyone was talking about. LOL. This has helped.
