Nice! I'm repurposing a 22" drum ride cymbal into a gong. It has the typical circular grooves, I want to remove the grooves and create a surface similar to your gong: can you recommend what wheel to use on my sander/angle grinder?

Hi, amazing video! Would love your help, I'm looking for information about the points I can drill to hang a gong, without interfering with the sound? And also information about the thicknesses of different gongs. Do you know of a online forum for these subjects that I can ask these questions? Thank you!
@Zendrums1084 жыл бұрын
The poits could be very different, but for the Chau shape ,the are often made on the bended edge avoid the tuned face. Thickness is also very different . Chinese chau gongs forbexample can be very fat ,even with 60-90sm in diameter. Paiste for example much more thin, but they use very quality materials and technology. Sorry i dont know any forums.^__^

I'd love to make one! Mainly cos ready-made ones are so expensive to buy.. Is Steel the best metal to use? Or should I use Brass / Bronze?
@Zendrums1088 ай бұрын
The are a lot of ways to do. Someone use steel. Tradidionaly ofcourse it's a bronse, but you also can meet brass or even titan.

It's a tam tam, there is a difference. You made a decent tam tam.

Isn't a tam tam still a type of gong?

@@bonerici gongs are tuned to a definite pitch, tam-tams aren't.

Hi! This is wonderfull to inspire by doing what is wery love to do. To avoid the rust, i put acrylic varnish. Also there must be a lot of other ways!) Take care!

This sand i got from the forging prsctice. For the gong cool slowly afrer heating. Maby itis not nessesary:)
@ravenatorful3 жыл бұрын
From my understanding slower cooling is used in many metal instruments for a more stable and sturdy product, and it also makes the metal sound better. Something to do with the molecular structure.
