I'm currently building an RS2.0 to compare with the RS1.0 that we've been running competitively at our local club (and my top line MS1.0 too) Building the car was awesome. Yokomo build quality and materials for £150!! Unreal. Probably not going to damage Tamiya sales, as it's still got open belts, but such an introduction to touring car racing.

Bought the most recent RC10 release and have yet to assemble it, however, it may just stay in the box, as I've been collecting a few (mostly vintage) upgrades for it in anticipation of a period-ish modified-style build, replicating something that I'd have seen back in the day. Now, the graphite version would help definitely push that plan along in the same vein...heavily considering that as a purchase.

Gav, I race the 1/12 cars. Both GT12 and 17.5. It is insanely fast and all I can say is that you have to just get in the zone, and you HAVE to learn set up and tuning. There’s a 13.5 class, but even that’s too fast to process watching. I’ve done a video on my X12 ‘24. The 2025 is a pretty big leap forward in design for Xray. The biggest thing is the elimination of the rear pod. Other manufacturers have done this, but I believe this is a first for Xray. I’m really good at buying JUST before huge updates.

Kyosho Plazma 1/12 - I really hope this will start a new re-release trend (yes, Tamiya, I am talking to you). RC10 Graphite - I already pre-ordered a Jay Halsey kit, so I do not need this one. Porsche 956 - Also, already pre-ordered one. It's just so too bad it cannot be finished in the Rothmans livery. Yokomo - Would be great if they could bring back (or finally bring to life) the mythical 1/12 4WD onroad racer that was about to go on sale around '82-'83. I do not know if they actually sold it, but I do remember it was advertised. Anybody knows anything about the car?

The Losi Micro B is a blast! Also to answer your question about pan cars, yes they are fast for sure and sometimes hard to keep up with. It really just comes down to focus and trying to read ahead on the track, as well as muscle memory. Really you have to auto pilot your brain because it's like a slot car once you get into the groove mentally, however depending on the track a simple thing can cause a big mistake. Like a driver taking a corner differently than you expect, or a crash happening. Really it's like real racing in terms of twitch reactions, gotta be on your toes! That said, my local track no longer races them, and mostly does oval racing now which I am not as much of a fan of. The local touring car program and stuff got shunted to the side and now not much else to do besides the micros and the occasional 1/10 off road for me.

Personally I love my kyosho Dirt Master. As for Tamiya, I cannot express how uninterested I am in the Hornet Evo. I am currently getting my grasshopper ready for fun class at my club. The only things I want from tamiya is either new stuff like the BBX or rereleases with upgraded plastics/durability so we can race them in vintage class. Not sure what the hornet Evo is for.

I agree with you about Tamiya, they should re-re original kits 'as is' then release an Evo version that's up to date, with any flaws fixed. And the Yokomo RS2.0 would be brilliant for beginners, far more capable than a TT02 out of the box, although a lot of clubs run different rules so it may not be eligible for a 'beginner' class as that may be restricted to Tamiya kits sadly. I had an XRay touring car almost 20 years ago and it was superb, built like a tank and exceptionally good quality. The only big issue that I can see with XRay kits is that they are very expensive, and spares are insanely priced, again great build quality but you pay a premium for that privilege....

Regarding the RC10 on Associateds website, the car in the picture isn't even owned by Associated. It's a restored original owned by a collector so is no guarantee of being the same spec, if they do bring it out. Regarding the "TT02" killer Yokomo, no it isn't. Most TT02s are sold because of the body, not the chassis under it. If they are raced they are run as a spec class on their own. The Yokomo is a budget race chassis, and it's competition is the Xpress XQ2S and Arrow AT1S models that have been around for a few years as a cheap way to get started racing.

I personally think tamiya should upgrade the shocks and hardware, its pretty crap back in the day! Todays rc’s they are shyt! Talk about cheap quality/ they are like legos. I also have a soft spot for 1/12 scale road racers, but keeping my wallet close for them. Losi 1/18scale buggies. I almost bought one last month - as its a smaller scale of my 10th scale racer. But didnt want to pay 300 bucks with all electronics while i wanted a basha - so bought the MadVan. Love it. Just bought a yokomo full carbon mx4 superdog. For 400 bucks! Thats calue for money. 😃👍

A Tamiya is not a proper Tamiya without a driver figure! Painted windows or dark tinted windows without an interior are things I really don't like. I agree about re-releases as it really depends upon which model we are talking about. Let's hope Tamiya doesn't go crazy and re-release the Blazing Blazer on the High-Lift chassis for their 50th anniversary!

I don’t see the Hornet EVO as a RE-RE especially since the original is still available it’s meant to be an Evolution (I know Right 🤣🤣🤣🤣) so modern next generation interpretation of the original funds are tight at the moment but I’m still trying to add one to the fleet. I don’t race 1/12 but used to have a friend that raced both 1/8 and 1/12 on road used to tell me he runs 1/12 because it’s the closest thing to 1/8 Nitro there is during the winter season and it kept him sharp 🤷♂️ couldn’t be harder than Mini-Z or 1/27 mod but those didn’t exist at the time I was told that
