The series sparked the tradition versus modern music debate and introduced us to the world of battles between gharanas. While the series focuses on the Rathore gharana, Hindustani music boasts splendid cultures such as the thumri-focused Banaras gharana, the khayal style of the Gwalior gharana, and the intricate taal techniques of the Jaipur gharana.
