Good punditry is more about personality and charisma than anything else because pretty much any avid football fan can give a valid opinion on football-related matters. And that's what punditry technically is - opinions. For example, a movie-critic and a movie-pundit are very different types of professions. An actual critical analysis of the game would be much more stats-focused than it is now.

Match engine is probably calculating chances by comparing the goalie stats with the shooter stats. As they are both outfield players, their shooting stats will be something, while their goalie stats are likely just ones and twos.

Why is that a big question. Just because pogba cost a laughable amount of money doesn't mean all the focus should be on him when he's dropped. He's average. If United had signed him for 20m fans would want him gone by now. Why not use 10-0-0 then? The best formation (if these games are still like they were 5-10 years ago) is 3-6-1 though. 3 Cbs, 2 Wing backs, 2 Dms, 2 CAM and one CF. Set your team to play through the middle.

And in Championship manager 01/02 version it doesn't matter what formation. Just set your forward to mark their goalkeeper and he'll get 10 goals a game, 5 will be dissalowed for offside though lol. But you still score bags more goals overall.
