The Parsun would be the only one I'd consider. They are big in Australia and make the Coleman ones at Fleet Farm. Even then I'd have a hard time spending real money on one

$15000 for electric motor, What about speed control, a (HUGE) battery and charger $$$$$. NO! Buy a Parsun only if I couldn't find anything else. Else, meaning the other 7 on the list. Parsun engines have one significant disadvantage: spare parts for them are almost impossible to find. The same problem is with Sail motors, which also claim to have more or less quality assembly. Flhope sounds good I guess if they could prove that there whole system is reliable and can fish more then 8hrs $15K sounds about right. Double that of gas 60hp.

Parsun and Sail have been over here in New Zealand for over 10 years. they dont last bust run ok. have seen some Parsun 25hp run in kids race boats.

Ive heard semi decent/okay reviews on the parsun outboards, and yes as per your review it sounds like they are buying old tooling and either licensing or manufacturing older legit OEM products. Good luck getting a shop to work on one though!

If you do run one of the motors in your tank to forget the golden rule of comparative testing. You got to run a fairly new Merc or yammer, same technology , the same way. N=1 is not statistically significant.

The ones that are 90% compatible with Yamaha r lower end Yamahas without the Yamaha logo that makes the motor worth $50,000 so like how Audi makes Volkswagen or Honda makes Acura I think it's kind of something along those lines but only the ones that are 90% compatible with Yamaha they're coming out of the Yamaha factory.

I remember when your grandfather talked about Japanese cars like you talk about China O/B technology and they cleaned our clocks in one generation. I had many engineers from China work for me. They all had advanced degrees and could do anything the American engineers can do. That all it takes. A lot of those parts in those engines are exported to Japan, Korea and USA. Start looking at casting marks on newer engines or inspection crayon markings on USA motors and you will see some very small casting symbols in Chinese script. They are capable of matching almost any product at an equivalent quality level unless their customer in Europe or USA tells them to go cheap. They make what they are told to make.
