Gerry is an absolute legend in africa, he fished the bassmaster classic multiple times which is a massive accomplishment if you are from outside the US. Gerry also designed many boats before, happy to see that another design is getting this exposure.

I like your plan to put on a 250 Suzuki. I have herd that the motor is slower but if it is. then my experience would say maybe 1 to 2 mph loss. However my Suzuki 250 is not slow, and the hole shot is great. I am at 650 hrs on my 2020 model with ZERO problems or repairs except the lower unit I have replaced due to me hitting stumps. I had the same lower unit issue with my merc's. It is the best motor I have ever had, and it sips fuel. Crazy how little fuel it burns. It is also silent for the most part. I have fished a few times with the motor running and did not realize it was running because it was so silent. The Moter cost less than the two other brands and mine came with a six yr warranty. The others had a 3 yr warranty. Suzuki is a WIN/Win. Andy did influence my buying the ZUKE!! Thanks Andy

WHEN companies with massive fleets like Seatow and US Boaters switch to a brand of motors, you best believe it's for a very good reason! Here in Florida, the boating & fishing capital of the world, both companies switched almost 100% to Suzuki a few years back and as the remaining Mercs & Yama's die, they're promptly replaced with Suzuki motors.

Gerry fished the Bassmasters Classic multiple times. He’s like a combination of KVD and Earl Benz’s. Legend in fishing and boat design. One of my hero’s growing up as a kid. Got to fish against him a few times. Also watched him tune up a prop with an angle grinder while sitting on a bucket on the shores of Chicamba. He’s more than a legend around here !

Andy, I ran into an interesting video on KZbin where a man bought a 9.9 horsepower outboard motor that is AN EXACT CLONE of a Yamaha outboard for $800. from a Chinese outfit called Alibaba. It laughingly is named a Yamabisi and the shipping charges were $500. that somehow he got waved. There are lots of Chinese clone motorcycles out there that are of disgustingly poor quality like BOOM and Gas Gas, but on this outboard the only thing inferior was the fuel hose. This Alibaba outfit is kind of an Amazon for China except that it is intended for manufacturers to sell their products in quantity and repeatedly to American buyers. Put this phrase into the KZbin search engine and this video should come up; it is worth watching: I Bought an $800 Knockoff Yamaha Outboard from Alibaba!

Looking at the Vortex Legacy, the side profile views… It looks much more like the old Stratos/Javelin, hull almost exactly and NOT like the Ranger. The Stratos 201 Pro XL is to date, IMPO, the best bass boat hull ever produced and Evinrude/Johnson used that as their test boat for all their freshwater testing from the day it was made! I'd wager the Vortex Legacy is right about there.

Looked it up and found they imported and stocked Bass for the purpose of sport fishing. Think on one hand that is fantastic, but then non native species very often become an unplanned nightmare for indigenous species.
@stoffelhelberg6322Ай бұрын
@@dougshomeshop3056 In some of our water systems we have a species called a southern mouthbrooder , wich is a tilapia subspecies that is basically the counterpart of the black /white crapie . They keep the bass numbers in check . Where they are absent (colder water systems ) the bass takes over .

Gerry, pronounced “Gary” I believe. He fished bassmasters for a couple years in maybe early 1990’s.
@paulstuartwilson485Ай бұрын
My first thought is that it sounds too good to be true. Also, it sounds like a big hassle since it's made in Africa due to me living in the USA. The logistics of getting it from Zimbabwe to Arkansas seem like a big hurdle. The shipping alone would negate the savings of the initial purchase. Plus, add in the hassle/difficulties of having to add and rig up the outboard engine would add to the cost of it in the final price. Can you imagine how many of these boats they would sell if they were manufactured here in the USA at that price? Even at double that price, they would crush a bunch of the "big" bass boat manufacturers in the USA. And, since they say they are built to last 30 years, they would almost instantly crush the used boat market because of the resale value. Where are all the venture capitalists when you need them? 👍🇺🇸

I think it looks cool and sounds like a good deal but has a few issues.Its like that stealth or whatever it's called that's built over seas. Nice looking, and all but logistically good luck getting one here to the US for a reasonable cost. On top of that, as selfish as it is it's just another product cutting into the US job market. Competition is fine and all, but I'd personally rather buy something made here or at least assembled here.
