I don't think Brian watched the game carefully, south Sudan played like an NBA-caliber team and very much well-coached. They were physical, smart, calculated and talented. They have a great ball movement. That was a highly competitive game because Sudan played aggressive and physical.. And Brian needs to understand that the world would not let themselves get smashed by Americans just because they play in the nba. If they would go down, they will go down with a fight.

Because most of them have been raised in Australia, played Australian football, been in the junior Australian FIBA team with the likes of Josh Giddey and they know each other well. Australian NBL teams play a style that can beat the NBA at times. You'll notice how similar the Australian and South Sudan team play- no coincidence, and that they both took it to the USA team, who has rolled over the Europeans.

For the majority of the last few decades the US would win games like these by 30 points. Its a huge problem that we have multiple MVPs on the floor and none NBA players including a 17 year old Duke commit are giving them issues. That's not the way its supposed to go. It doesn't matter what Sudan plays like, the talent disparity should lead to the US winning by 30 if they were focused and played to their level

@@aivygile3569 They came in to the game with a +43 in betting odds. This isn't about resiliency. Its about expectations. South Sudan played a 17 year old out there. The US has Lebron and Steph who have a combined 8 titles alone. I didn't make up the 30 point win. That's what the betting houses thought would happen too, and usually they know the disparity. Most of the Sudan players have started playing basketball super late in life on broken hoops. This isn't an equal competition but the US was so bad it seemed equal

Yes, along with motion offense and smooth ball movement. US starters are a tad slow and even when they have offensive/defensive bursts, they cannot sustain it. You can win with bursts like that if the talent disparity is big like 10-15 years ago, but it's not the case now.

South Sudan was simply on fire with their 3’s. Every kind of shot was dropping for them. Sometimes, that can beat a team because it’s easy to create openings for them. It just caused Team USA to play harder. SS didn’t necessarily out-play them per se.

In the 90s, the NBA defense was tougher and more physical than the FIBA basketball defense. When NBA players played FIBA they found it easier. Today it's the opposite, the NBA defense is softer than FIBA basketball, which is why players like Luka say that the NBA is easier to play. The NBA's defense needs to be strong again, not just in the playoffs. Coach Kerr needs to be flexible in his decisions and get out of the pre-game schedule a little.
