How much do you know about rooster fighting? Because those guys take pretty good care of their roosters. Some of the farms in the Philippines are multi million dollar endeavors. You don't get into rooster fighting because you HATE chickens. Animal Competions are dumb. This one in particular is really hard on horses body in the long run. There is alot wrong with this.

@doggodoggo30002 жыл бұрын
No. Your wrong. And this is very hard on their bodies. English riding competitions suck just as bad. Jumping is terrible. Criticisms Rodeos are as old as rodeos them selves. There have always been people who think its dumb fake cowboy BS. Certain activities have been banned throughout the years. Its nothing new. I worked in dog sled racing, there are quotes from old timers who criticize the iditarod. People who grew up around working sled dogs back in the day. "“Sportswriter Fattig of the Anchorage Times interviewed a couple of Alaskans from McGrath, one of the race’s checkpoints, and found them outspokenly opposed to the length of the race. They pointed out that Alaskans of pre-snowmobile years would never run a dog team a thousand miles. ‘We knew Leonard Seppala (one of the mushers in the 1925 diphtheria run to Nome) and that little guy would turn over in his grave if he knew what was happening,’ Margaret Mespelt, 76, an Alaskan since 1929, told Fattig.” - Earl Gustkey, Los Angeles Times, March 24, 1986" And yea. Leonard Seppalas dogs straight up lived better lives than any racing dogs today. I have video and photographic proof of this. He had WAY fewer dogs. Didn't push them as hard. They only lived on chains in winter during the working season which does make sense. And they never ever ran that fast or that far. For that many days in a row. I worked in sprint racing. And I can say with certainty that the length of the race is not the only problem. Our longest races were 35 miles a day. A shorter race just means the dogs are running faster.

@doggodoggo30002 жыл бұрын
@@laurenrousell8117 This inparticular needlessly hard on their bodies in the long run. Its a really dumb thing to make a competition out of. All animal competitions are about whats best to win. it over clouds what's best for the animals. My big thing is being anti racing. I worked in racing and have seen those issues first hand. Those tips and tricks are not unique to racing animals the knowledge is pretty transferable. The flow and economy of it is very similar too. There comes a point where the only way to improve is to get another horse or be harder on your existing horse. All animal competitions are basically just competitive animal breeding. Having a larger pool of horses is an advantage. Competitions don't get EASIER over time. They get HARDER. And we are already performing at levels that have no real world application.
@laurenrousell81172 жыл бұрын
@@doggodoggo3000 Well for starters, saying that a sport is dumb isn't a point. This isn't horse racing and bringing it up here isn't very useful. You say that there are similarities between the two sports, but that doesn't change the fact that racing isn't reining. Along with that, you change focus onto breeding, but breeding for show doesn't have anything to do with the argument that reining is bad. Sure they both deal with horses, but they aren't the same topic. Let's focus on the topic. Sports can potentially be hard on a horse if proper care isn't taken. I cannot speak for all trainers, but logically wouldn't it make more sense to try and extend the show life of a horse with proper care? You say that people will just buy and breed more horses, but it takes years to train a horse to this level. It's much easier to train a few horses and maintain them than to swap constantly. Most top competitors don't swap their top horses that much. I'm not talking about horses they are paid to ride; I'm talking about horses they own. Competition levels vary, and competitors don't have to show at the highest level. Also, that point really isn't that relevant to what we are talking about. Competition levels getting hard doesn't have anything to do with whether a sport is bad or not. Last, very few sports can have complete real-world application. For example, learning to hit a ball without using my hands like in soccer/football doesn't teach me any life skills. But, that's not the purpose of the sport. Sports are meant to be for fun and that is it. You don't have to learn real-life skills from a sport for it to be useful. It feels like from your response that you don't know a lot about reining and you just don't like animal competitions, but overgeneralizing such a large category isn't how you come to an educated conclusion.
@doggodoggo30002 жыл бұрын
@@laurenrousell8117 My first point was "This inparticular needlessly hard on their bodies" Thats why I lead with that. Its a 1000lb animal repeatedly running and stopping. That is HUGE amounts of force on their joints and tendons. I didn't think I needed to elaborate on that. Same problem with Jumping. "Sports are meant to be for fun and that is it" Thats not true at all. In a few cases it is. Like there is no practical application to rooster fighting. But there used to be practical application to alot of these sports beyond just fun. Dog fighting was tied to assessing ability of dogs used for hunting. Gameness, speed, which body plans are more succesful, seeing how dogs move. Where does the dog like to bite? And then past the dogs it looks at which trainers are doing what, how they select dogs to breed, their training regiments, their diets. This was all tied to trying to set dogs up for success in hunting. Hog hunting dogs regularly get killed or gravely injured. There are other groups that would be interested in dog fighting like people who bred dogs for defense as well. Barrel racing. Running barrels is just an exercise for developing skills for working horses. There is a reason you would run barrels if training horses to go out and rope cows or something. As an exercise it has utility, as a competition its going to far. Dressage is kind of the same deal. As a training exercise it makes alot of sense. As as competition it just goes way to far. It becomes something entirely removed from the original purpose. Dog sled racing. The oldest dog sled racers were sprint races. Dog mushers back in the day were essentially just truckers. It wasn't really a cool or glamorous job. Everyone was interested in developing a faster dog. The mushers would get together and race each other at the end of the working season and see who had the fastest dogs. That way they can figure out how to get faster dogs themselves, trade dogs around, arrange to stud out dogs. That kind of thing. It had a utility. In the middle of nowhere rural freaking cold alaska and stuff there is nothing going on. Of course a dog race is kind of fun. Horse racing is about breeding horses. Always has been. IDK what to tell you. Horses used to be tools. Owning a horse is like a owning a car. All the major car manufacturers are involved in racing. Its basically the same thing. That same principle applies to lots of animal competitions. Most of these competitions boil down to nothing more than competitive dog breeding. Look at top level agility dogs. They are all owned by dog breeders. Excelling at a competition is a way to be able to ask more money for your animals. Its just about making money. Every animal sport out there rewards all the wrong behavior.

I enjoy reading the rants and arguments on almost every horse video 😂 the equestrian community as a whole is one of the most toxic things I’ve ever seen. There is such an unmatched rivalry between everyone and their discipline that every comment seems to be about which is better, that the other is abusing, the horse is unhappy, the rider is uneducated, and bits/spurs/crops are harming the animal. Nobody seems to understand that most equestrians love their horses (probably love their horse more than they love a lot of humans 😂) and would do just about anything for them. Nobody seems to understand that most of these events have a historical significance and that there was a purpose to the event or they were wanting to showcase the abilities of both rider and animal. Just something I’ve picked up on. 😂

unpopular opinion: I don’t find reining very impressive or interesting. Wanna see me spin hmmm horse in a circle why i stab them with a spur? How about run real fast and drag the back legs on the ground? how bout i yank on my leverage bit while i’m at it? Fun!
@mariekesillevissmitt78336 жыл бұрын
freeridexx I would disagree with your statement. Although there are nonexamples in this video, you rarely see a Reiner plowing on the bit or spurring heavily. They get penalized if they do. They also hands down have the most effective seat in the Equestrian community. I thought my 4th Level dressage school master was sensitive and that I had a pretty good seat. Until I got on a finished Reiner. I sat a millimeter too far to the left and all of a sudden I couldn’t stop spinning. I find it extremely impressive

I am with you freeridexx...I have been watching a few of these recently and it's all the same three tricks...spin, stop, lope around in a figure 8 / circle. None of these skills really make any sense though they are impressive the first time you see it...it's kind of ho hum the 3rd or 4th time you watch hoping something different is displayed.
@equidaes6 жыл бұрын
freeridexx You have to see from every rider’s point of view. Reining, is like dressage. You both have to come up with a pattern to preform and judge. The horses here in the Reining portion of the WEG were OUTSTANDING. As you can see, the rider is BARLEY even TOUCHING the bit, let alone YAKING on it. They are only using one hand. You’ll get penalized if you stab the horse with spurs or you yank on the mouth. Also , spurs aren’t for western pleasure. Many people within the Equine world use Spurs for many disciplines. I myself do show jumping and I had to use spurs while riding a very difficult horse. My point is, every discipline is different and unique. We can’t hate it because in the end, all riders are the same. Our love for horses. Yeah you have opinions, but Reining is NOT what it seems. It takes a lot of courage and hard work, to even MAKE it to the FEI WEG. I’d be honored if I even could go to just watch. It’ll be my dream come true to even ride there. I bet they all did HARD work and many hours of training just to even compete. So try to look from both perspectives. Yours and someone else’s. Cause it may never be what you expect.
