Great report. Love that you don't assume we all know how to play and do a step by step. Phil Yates is so patient too, but passionate as well in his knowledge. Amazing

Thank you Phil and Beasts of War for providing this demo video. Hopefully this will go a long way to teaching new players how to play.

Like the look of this version of FoW but surely there should be a proximity rule in all version preventing players stacking their tanks like they are Parked in a car park? - not exactly tactical realism!
@Eihort8 жыл бұрын
The problem is that you're looking at an abbreviated battlefield. If you stuck to the 1/100 scale, the tanks, which routinely engage at 1-2km would be shooting 32-48 FEET. Never mind artillery ranges. This is why the forward formation of T-72s had the guy in the back unable to get some cover from his buddies. It's very difficult to get tactical realism with modern weapons in anything other than an urban or closed in setting in miniature wargaming. You'd have to move up a scale to more operational like microarmor where each tank is representing an entire platoon, and the ground scale is much much smaller.

Nice battle report guys, really getting me into it again

Game play looks good, but I have to ask whats the dimension on those road pieces. That board just gave me idea of what I can use a pile of 1/8" thick scrap pieces of plywood paneling I have seating in my shop.

The leopard 2 (a variant) is still today the main battle tank of the army here in Spain. Probably not the best these days but still a pretty vehicle.

Can't wait for the British contingent , my dad was a tank commander I grew up around chieftains , scorpions ,scimitars and fv432 's later on the early challengers, so many memories in north Germany !

14 inches tactical for a T72?

The T72's have brutal, or does that not affect leopards?

Addendum; firing AA out of turn, forfeits shooting the next turn. Or does that not affect germans?
@MrMaximus198228 жыл бұрын
think it means it forfeits the ability to fire AA on the next turn, not main weapons.

I'm super keen on the theme for Team Yankee and want to get into it. The scale really puts me off though and the battles are just at too close a range to have the right feel for a game focused around modern vehicles. Could it be said the rules make up for this? Do the rules facilitate play on a larger board if available?
@judyhopps93808 жыл бұрын
i think it's meant to be on a 4x6. This looks barely like a 4x4
@noahscott02248 жыл бұрын
My buddies and I have been messing around with 6mm figures instead. The scales feel better, you can have larger armies, and they're cheaper. A whole lot cheaper.
@Eihort8 жыл бұрын
You could go directly to mirco armor (6mm) and just directly move inches to cm. (20 inches becomes 20 cm). Again, they have to heavily abbreviate the battlefield given the ranges. In 1/100, those tanks should engage each other at 32-48 FEET. In micro, that goes down to 11 feet. >_> Unless you're always fighting in a city or really restrictive terrain, modern weaponry is just too long ranged to get any kind of easy visual representation on a miniature table top.
