Other great bits from that episode are how Zuko looks at Katara, both when she bloodbends and later stops the rain. Both times it's amazement and surprise at her power, and maybe a little fear mixed in too at witnessing her bloodbend.

I would love to see Zuko's progression in firebending , because they don't really mention it , but he evolves so much , to the point of doing massive fireballs when taking on Aang and Katara, plus his techinque get's really refined , to the point of even tought he might have less fire power then Azula ( Im not really sure ) he takes a clear advantage at their fight , is such shame they nerfed him Heavelly in Korra.

Katara as always and still is my favorite character. Even in "Legends of Korra"' She was a very powerful and skilled bender. She was never to weak or whiny. She was emotional and honest. She looked after her brother despite being younger, and wouldn't stand for sexism. Which I found it funny when she flat out called Sokka sexist. You wouldn't ever hear that in a kids show. "Avatar the last air bender", was and is different from all the other kids shows. Going to lengths that you didn't see in a lot of shows targeted for children. However, I think that's the charm of ATLA. Katara and her bending came a long way between season one of ATLA, to the first season of LOK.

I like to believe the character growth/development went like this: Aang changed his discipline Katara changed her skill Sokka changed his viewpoint Zuko changed his alignment Toph changed her openness Of course, there's more to it then that, but that's the gest of it. Aang changed from being without a care in the world to being fully responsible and taking action. Katara changed from lacking in her skill being able to manipulate some fish in bubbles to controlling the very rain around her. Sokka changed his viewpoint on the Fire Nation citizens and women with his insecurities to now being fully confident in himself and other's. Zuko changed from seeking the Avatar for honour and betraying his own Uncle who cared more for him than his father, to finding the true meaning of firebending as life and helping the Avatar bring an end to his own father's reign. Toph was closed off from other's at first, but then when she opened up to the rest, she in a way discovered a way to bend what was thought to be impossible, metal.

When it's put into these terms, each character had to learn their opposing nature. When Aang learns earth bending, we discover each element has it's natural opposite (in this case, air and earth). Each character grew because they learned the most difficult lessons for their element's "opposite". Air benders value freedom and spontaneity. Aang struggled the most with duty and feeling bound to a destiny. For Zuko, fire benders are known for their passion and sometimes anger. He not only had to face that his values (i.e. passion) were wrong, but he was able to recognize they were wrong and adjust his path in a rational way. The same parallels can be said about the other characters. Maybe the greatest thing the avatar taught us is that we need to find balance in ourselves and embrace the things that are most difficult for us. Idk, just a thought. 😉

I think she counts as a prodigy, even if some people aren't willing to admit it. Sure, her skills at the first episodes weren't anything special, but that's only because she had to learn them herself. But when she finally got a reference (the waterbending scroll), she was able to learn well and we saw the rapid improvement in her skills (e.g. being unable to create a wave in "The Waterbending Scroll" and then easily doing that in "Bato of the Water Tribe"). Once she got a master, I assume it only took her a few days to be in the level she was in at Book 1's season finale. And she only got better from there. She even learned bloodbending just a few minutes after the concept was introduced to her. If she really wanted to stay on that bloodbending path, she probably could've bypassed the full moon restriction earlier than Amon's family.
@craiglatta1351 Жыл бұрын
Katara is interesting because she's a prodigy at learning. Unlike Toph, Azula, Iroh, and Hama she never creates a new technique, but she learns them extremely fast and can take skills beyond the level her teachers did. This explains why in a year she came so far when her entire life pre-Aang only allowed her basic control, and why she literally leaps to Zuko level after meeting Paaku.

Tbh Zuko and Azula are kinda nerfed also cause water>fire
@josemanuelramos69374 жыл бұрын
System3rror In this world they are counterparts, so they are technically equal, i mean fire extinguish water and vice versa. Furthermore, if we count water as superior, Azula's flame, because of its colour, is hotter than regular flames, so she should easily evaporate Katara's water. Katara, in my opinion, has more difficulties in their battles.

I don't think so, the Avatar can't be just anyone, they are the reincarnations of the first Avatar, Wan. Even in Last Airbender they made it clear the Avatar was someone who reincarnated, they just elaborated on that in LoK.
