Awww - I had a lump in my throat when you arrived at the Mirage. I enjoyed watching your vlogs and seeing Matthew grow up. That place is filled with history and magic, thanks to Siegfried and Roy. I do not have high hopes for Hard Rock - just too "commercial". Thankfully, we always have Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo and Aria Sky Suites to fall back on.

Talking about the mirage scent. aroma retail sells the hotel scents. They have the mirage scents for the lobby and casino. There a company based in Las Vegas and I brought the sample sticks and omg! You will have the mirage scent with you always. ❤️ I am going for my final stay there next month. Loving the vlogs. My favorite travel family to watch. 💕

The Mirage was my favorite resort and our Vegas home away from home for many years. So many great memories there I’ll never forget. It was the first mega resort. It set a new standard and revitalized the strip. Truly sad to see it go as it is the place I feel in love with Vegas. Next trip I will go to my favorite spot at the sports bar and say goodbye. Wynn will be our new home, as Steve just knows how to build them. Cheers to an icon.

Kim, this vlog made me SO emotional lol. I've been watching your vlogs since you started, and when Matthew opened his bar for the last time, I literally lost it. Huge ugly tears lost it lol. I remember watching your vlogs for the first time and he was so little back then, and it's just been so incredible watching him grow and getting to share your Vegas memories with you and your beautiful family. We’ve stayed at the Mirage a handful of times, last stay was about 8 years ago, of course we’ve been to Vegas since, We’ve dined there, have watched the volcano numerous times throughout the years, it’s sad, IMO Mirage represented what “Old Vegas” was too me, we stayed at the Sands before it was the Venetian, again such memories for me and my family. With the Stardust gone, Sands gone, Mirage gone, etc. For me, these places held/hold so many good memories. I’m just sorry we never saw the Love show at the Mirage, we’ve seen KA, O and Mystere. I remember Siegfried and Roy at the Mirage…..sighing/feeling melancholy now. Thank you, I’ve enjoyed watching your vlogs/videos.

Yes, the Mirage is tired, but still love the property. I worked on the renovation in 2007 I installed the entertainment centers and those headboards I signed my name behind every unit I personally installed.

Oh man Kim, you’re not going to make it to the Private Oasis pool at Mirage! I’m going to miss the Mirage so much, it was our home base in Vegas too. Where do you think your new home base will be? We’ll be there in May for our last stay in the hospitality suite. I do love the idea of new things in Vegas…. But I’m not prepared for this one!

I’m so sad because the last two summers we had trips with cabanas booked that were cancelled 😞 and I never got to try the Oasis pool, I always used to tell Matthew when we walked past, one day we’ll be going to that pool together 😩♥️. I’m really not sure where we’ll make our new home, I obviously love the Wynn/Encore but Jon has been spoiled with the space of a 2 bed suite 🤣

yes I remember iddy biddy Matthew "tending bar"! Oh how I love that coconut/vanilla scent as soon as you walk through their doors. I had THE BEST bloody mary EVER at the Mirage Pool. I wonder what they will do with the dolphin habitat??

Hi Kim. I'm happy that you guys got to stay at the Mirage on your last part of the trip.I'm sure you all had many thoughts and feelings as you entered the Mirage. The place is sadly dated, but I think it''s still a great property. Otoro restaurant has some great looking dishes. I'm sure you will be able to find another Vegas home and Matthew can open up his bar. Thanks for sharing and take care.

We were super sad to hear of the mirage being sold! We go back to vegas in May but decided not to stay as we were worried it might be a bit tired. We will definitely visit to gamble and sag goodbye to the old girl though!

agent vloggity vlog love it... aint it funny when we get older we take care of ourselves a lot more,im like john as when i turned 50 i started swimming and now im in pool every mourning at 8 am its a habit now but a great habit as the feeling after sets the day up so well i bet john feels the same. mirage is the property i have stayed at the most in the past 20 years of vegas the ease getting about and that pool is amazing i will miss the property but il def call in when im there in april stay safe guys

The problem with the Mirage is that MGM isn't focusing on Vegas anymore. They sold all their real estate in Vegas (even MGM Grand and Bellagio) to Black Rock and signed 30 year management leases so that MGM would have cash to develope international properties. Basicly MGM will still run the Vegas properties (not Mirage. That was 100% sold to Hard Rock) but Black Rock now owns the actual buildings.

Bittersweet indeed. 🙁 Another Vegas staple going away. Though it is old it's part of an amazing era in Vegas. Hoping Hard Rock will be just as amazing. I love jogging along with Jon, he takes us to places we don't see. Matthew's bar 😉 is high end with those prices 🤣. I remember as you said when he was barely tall enough to see over the bar. I made the mistake of staying Wynn/ Mirage instead of staying Mirage then over to Wynn. The vast difference between the two in upkeep and luxury really stood out to me too. Made Mirage feel even older and worn out than I remembered Glad I wasn’t the only one feeling this way lol

Remember going to Las Vegas the second time in my life. The Mirage had just opened. It was (and still is) amazing! I'm so sad that it will be no more. Sad thing is it was (and still is) the perfect property. Perfect price point and (had) the perfect theming. All MGM had to do was keep it maintained. The tropical theming throughout the casino (before the first MGM renovation) made it the perfect property. The entire property use to look like an exotic tiki room (same celling work that the sports bar still has). Remember when the volcano use to have a simulated river of lava - it was amazing. So sad - all MGM really had to do with this property was maintain it - change out the carpet, keep it pained, maintain the furniture, and maybe add some new effects to the volcano. Could they do that? No. They had to turn it into a hotel with modern/contemporary interior designs like they did with all their properties (think MGM Grand, Park MGM, Aria, etc.). The great thing about Vegas used to be the themed properties. Those days are over. I have a trip planned to Mirage for November. Hope it will still be there. My opinion The Mirage was Steve Wynn's first (and my favorite) property - even more than Bellagio when he headed up Mirage Resorts. The days of the great builders in Las Vegas, Steve Wynn, Kirk Kerkorian, William Bennett, etc., are over. Think the only person left to pave the future right now is Dereck Stevens who is doing a great job downtown. Can't wait to see you Mirage but I am going to really miss you when you're gone!

@@teamclarevlogs sad thing is I think it is at the point without to muck work/effort someone could easily put a few bucks into it (in its current state) so some renovations (i.e. new carpet, refresh the rooms, bring back the tropical theming in the casino) and it would be a first -rate property. Perhaps make some enhancements to the Volcano like making the river of lava flow again. But, guess Corporate America thinks it needs to be converted into a Guitar shaped tower!
