Definitely a distinct period for him in that he was allowed to show more variety in his characterizations. After And Justice For All and, especially, Scarface, he kind of became a "force of nature" actor....in that a booming personality takes over many of his roles.....similar thing happened to Jack Nicholson.

Absolute legend. Al Pacino got nothing handed to him; he went through all those struggles and became such a legend - and the most beautiful part: He retained his humble, down-to-earth demeanor. I wasn't aware of how tough his background actually was. That is pretty amazing; this episode definitely piqued my interest in reading that new book of his. Definitely going to give it a read👍

Out of the late night host, I think Conan is the best interviewer. But Conan loves to talk, and the good of this format is that it is a Conversation between them, not so much an interview

@@franklindurang Conan loves to talk and is very good at making conversation, but you'll notice that the more talkative guests he always lets speak. Other late night hosts do not understand that not all celebrities are cornucopias of interesting platitudes and intriguing stories. Some are boring, normal people who happen to be extremely good at acting/singing etc. Conan DOES understand this and that is why he is the best late night host. He can carry an interview on his back alone with good jokes, light hearted conversation, and it often warms up shyer celebs.

Feels like this is his farewell tour on the talkshow and podcast circuit. He still never phones it in a movie role for a paycheck even though he could if he wanted to, probably because he's just such a passionate person. He's truly a living legend but seems like a humble and down to earth guy.

True story, one year on Christmas Eve my wife got upset with me for not going to celebrate with her family, and I didn't even see my family. I stayed home alone and watched three films in a row. ‘The Godfather’ was one of the best Christmases I've ever had. Thank you for sharing that great actor Al Pacino.

I am totally with Conan, that one scene where Michael turns and you see it going through his mind and out his mouth, that's just the whole point of The Godfather for me. The performance is just genius. And the look on his face when he says "it's not personal Sonny, it's strictly business" is the one that pops in my head any time I think of him.

I saw Al Pacino live in “Hughie” , a Eugene O’Neil play at The Long Wharf Theater in New Haven,Ct. It was essentially a one character play, and I was sitting 6 feet away from Al in this small theater. It was pretty awesome.

I still can't believe this is happening. Last night I watched the "hopeful" Al Pacino's friendship with Conan. It blew my mind so hard I could not comment. This, tonight, was beautiful. The juxtaposition of the studio not getting it and wanting him gone, and the moment when Mr. Pacino says to himself, "I want out" at the same time due to their lack of patience and vision, is everything to every artist, and everything to every employee, really. Mr. Pacino, thank you. What a lovely, honest interview. Thank you, again. Conan, you lucky bastard. Love you, Conan.

I have my well-worn copy of Pacino's Searching for Richard that I return to time and again, for its passion, for his skills and his genuine love of Shakespeare and the author's character development. But mostly I return because I just love being with Al. For all his fame, he feels to me like an old high school buddy and he's telling me about this deuce coupe he's working on.

I met him and Beverly D’Angelo after we were the last to leave the restaurant on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was filming the Insider at the time. Earlier I had a nice conversation at bar with Russell Crowe. My girlfriend at the time knew I had the good fortune to run into a celebrities. Anyway, she egged me on to approach which I did… I said good evening Mr. Pacino and Ms. D’Angelo. I said to Al I have a great story about us. He stopped and said to we know each other? I said know. He said, well, tell me this story. At the time, I was barely 40. We ended talking for a half hour in the parking lot. He and Beverly could not have been nicer and wanted to know how Chilean went from Chile to New York to Mississippi

I haven’t read any comments here, so I don’t know whether this has been said already. But for those of you who aren’t experienced with his seventies films, seeing Dog Day Afternoon should be a priority. The late, great director of that film said that he’d never witnessed a greater acting performance. Long before I ever knew that he thought that I’d already reached the place in my long, film-watching history that there was no greater performance I’d ever seen. It’s nothing short of a tour de force.

The Offer is a good miniseries that shows how chaotic it was to make The Godfather. It was impressive how the producers, director, crew, editors and actors were able to pull everything together to make one of the greatest movies of all time.
